    These talks won't get anywhere unless Microsoft gets rid of this requirement

    Of course, it’s up to game developers to support this feature, and Xbox Live players will always have the option of choosing to play only with other Xbox Live players.

    That's why FFXIV wasn't on Xbox360/One. This time, Microsoft wanted players to require Gold to play and Square Enix said it would be unfair to double charge players with a monthly sub and Gold. Thus, FFXIV never went to Microsoft consoles.
