So this was a little forum game that I used to play on the WoW forums and had a lot of fun with.
The basic idea is simple. To enter the game, make a post and assign an achievement to last person who posted. Then the next person that posts will assign an achievement to you. Fun!
Since the forum doesn't directly link to the lodestone, you'll have to manually go there and search for the character you're giving an assignment to. If you want to be nice, leave a link to your achievements (and make sure they're public!) when you post an assignment to someone else.
To keep things running smoothly, the following guidelines should be held in accordance:
Get That Achievement: Guidelines!
Giving an assignment:
- First, make a post with the name of the person you're assigning to. Once your post loads, make sure nobody beat you to it. If so, edit your post with the new name.
- Once you have your target, look them up on the lodestone and find any achievement they have not yet done, and edit your post to add the achievement you want to assign for them. Try to focus on achievements that are easy and quick, or that are nearly completed.
- Only achievements that can be currently completed are eligible (seasonal ones out of season don't qualify.)
- Achievements which require a grand company other than the character's current grand company are not allowed, because it takes too long to switch back and forth. (Unless the poster says this is okay.)
- Focus on 'the next step' achievements. Don't assign a level 60 achievement to someone who's level 1 in that class, assign the level 10 achievement instead.
- If the person above you didn't follow the guidelines, assign them an achievement anyway. This prevents many confusing scenarios I've seen happen of trying to keep track of who gets assigned next.
- If the person you're assigning to doesn't have public achievements, just say so in your post. It's up to you if you want to guess at an assignment to assign them or not. They'll need to fix their achievements to public and post again if they want to play.
- If you notice someone got skipped (because guidelines weren't followed), and nobody's given them an assignment yet, you can give them an assignment if you want to. But ALSO give an assignment to the person above you (even if they didn't follow the guidelines, see above.)
- If you wish to give multiple options to your target for them to pick from, you may. But only one of them has to be chosen.
- If the person has specified what categories they don't want (for instance PvP), it's up to you whether to ignore their request or not.
- If the thread is full, create a new thread, bump the version number, copy these guidelines, and then give an assignment to the last person in the previous thread.
Getting an assignment:
- Post with the character you want an assignment for. Make sure that you have enabled the viewing of your achievements in lodestone, or it's gonna be pretty hard for someone to assign for you! If you wanna be super helpful, post the public link to your achievements so the person assigning you can just click and go. To turn your achievements public, select the setting on this page: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...tting/account/
- Make sure to give an assignment when you post (see above.)
- If you want to specify what categories you don't want (for instance PvP), you may, however if someone assigns you one anyway, you're stuck, that's your assignment. You can choose to complete it or wait out the time limit (see below).
- The exception is achievements which require to change grand company. If you want to, go ahead, otherwise you may ignore the assignment and post again to get another. If the assignment is currently impossible, same thing, ignore it and post to get another.
- Assignments have a time limit. The time limit is equal in days to how many achievement points that achievement gives. If it is a 15 point achievement, you have 15 days to complete it. If it is a 30 point achievement, you have 30 days to complete it, etc. You can't return for another assignment until time expires, or you complete the assignment.
- If the assignment skips 'the next step', for instance if you have a level 1 class and the assignment is to get to 60, then performing 'the next step' towards the assignment (for instance getting to level 10) counts as completing the assignment.
- If multiple suggestions are given, you only have to pick one. It's up to you if you want to do more than one.
- If the person is not following these guidelines and doesn't assign you correctly, or if you get skipped, continue reading to the end of the thread to see if someone noticed you got skipped and gave you an assignment. Otherwise, feel free to post again (give another assignment) and wait for someone to give you one.
- Once you have completed the assignment, or time has expired, come back and play again!
Good luck and have fun!
