We already have DRK/WAR without provoke and WHM/SCH/AST/SMN without swift cast sadly. With level jump, you could more see people doing current content without their quested and cross class abilities.
That's a valid point, but that's completely different from what you mentioned until you edited recently, and even then that's only partially.my point is blizzard has gone through 4 expansion to before they introduce this lvl jump system SE is only in it first and get ready release it second i betting on this. look at expansion wise blizzard introduce the lvl jump at lvl 90 i think wise action is hold off to the second expansion is release and people are play through and then see if it still desired. this far to early for ffxiv to even consider it

Unless they already have one Job at 60 and boost the other Job to 50-60 (THM is very boring at low levels and GLA is horrible).
as far as i understan this is how the job kits work. so i agree with previous posters points, no sc no provoke, no whatever
how it works, you buy a job, it gives you 30/15 and then maxes the job main to 50. you skip all 2.x and act as if youive cleared steps of faith(skppin chrysal etc)
youre plopped in heacensward not having touched your class AND SE pays you gil so you can buy better gear.
SO you enter heavensward as a level 50 ninja. all you job skills are completete. youe gonna be good right?
cvause fates wont even teach you how to DO raiton right? you come in suckworthy worse than any fate grinder earning that level in ninja, and youre gonna be a great ninja out of the box? no one will silently kick you for dealing 90 dps in dusk vigil? its gonna be a lobely experience learning you job? seriously?

Well, the MMORPG genre have shifted strongly towards the end-game, so much so that the common thinking is that the game doesn't start until the end. With games designed like that, I don't think it's such a bad thing to have level-skips.
Although I would still prefer if leveling lasted much longer and we have the "end-game" experience at each level range. But I am the minority I suppose.
“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”
― Ernest Hemingway
I think it'll be good.
It wasn't a big problem in 3.0 because it's the first expansion. But imagine if it's 6.0 or 7.0, and new players have to do all stuffs from 2.0 to 7.0 in order to start playing with us. We're gonna have to wait 10 hours just to form a party to do anything.
That potion is optional. If you want to level or enjoy a story, you just don't use it.
And I don't know about others, but when I am starting new game, I don't go straight to the game shop. I experience the game as slowly as possible, because why rush. And I must like it from first minute I'm playing it. If I don't like it, even if it becomes amazing at the end game, I'll never know, because I just go and try something else.
And if something buys this potion, then he probably knows what he is doing, because he is clearly spending additional money for something. If he wants to ruin the game for him, just let him do this. You won't make him happier forcing him to grind 100 quests and 100 fates.
The major difference between WoW and FF14 is that despite the linked stories in WoW, each expansion is practically its own thing. To make sense of 14, you'd need to know what the hell is going on prior to this ritual or that war breaking out. There's too much call back and links to prior content in 14 to simply enable to someone to skip a major chunk of it, without falling almost entirely out of the loop as to what's going on. Hell, even raid content has its own purpose to the main story of the game, despite its lack of mention.

I'm praying so hard that the "jumping potions" don't become a thing. I quit wow because of it... All of my dungeon/raid experiences were HORRIBLE after they added it. I do not want to see this game go down hill because of people (especially people whom have zero MMO experience) jumping to almost max level, having no idea how to work their class, what anything means, and just prevent people from progressing or getting things done.
I love new people, I really do. I love helping others and giving tips... I'm usually a very patient person and am not one to get mad at a new person for not grasping things right away, but even I have my breaking point.
