Yes you can argue that those are pay for convenience and it isn't pay to win. Why, everything can be really fall in the categories of pay for convenience. I think anything that is exp boost, instant level gain to max level, skip all contents are pay to win. If you go to any Free to Play game with Cash Shop now their hottest selling items are Exp Boost. But here, it even worst since you don't even have to grind. Boom, instant max level and skipping all contents. I believed anything else like cosmetic, server changed, name changed, fall int he categories of not pay to win. I guess different people have different ways of interpreted what is pay to win. That's Pay for Convenience; very mild, borderline useless, convenience. You'll get upwards of 76,000 just by doing your challenge log for the week, which can easily be done through spamming easy content. Feathers are given to anyone using Recruit-a-friend and i70 is garbage. At level 50, you want the Ironworks gear immediately. So none of those perks mean much.
Keep saying it isn't pay to win is just supporting the cash shop and they will see how far they can really push this. What's next? Instant Anima grind because it is too long?

Yeah, its absolutely pay 2 win. I remember when people wouldn't touch a MMO that sold xp potions that increased ur xp gain by 50% or so. Now ppl are totally fine buying potions that just give you 60 levels worth of xp. Man times have changed. The devs going to really have to sell me on the next expansion with features like actual difficult dungeons or something. Else I'm prob not going to buy it just to grind super easy dungeons for tomestones for another 2 years. I'm going to wait for a few announcements / interviews before i completely write off the game though. Adding level boosters and sellable subscription tokens is a good way to make me want to quit.

Good joke because i'm not going to play WoW Legion so your argument just went out the window. Also most people I have asked for this option say they don't care if its added and I told them but the DF would get worse and they all gave the same answer "majority of DF is bad most people just don't know it" and they are not playing WoW legion before making straw man arguments please think about it a bit more instead of throwing the WoW card. People keep saying this game is story driven that is understandable but the sad fact is majority don't really care for the story I know way too many people that just skip the story to get their dungeon/trial.
I said it earlier why do you think they moved the dungeon earlier in the MSQ now because people complained they had to go through the whole story to get it when they don't care about it. Why do you think there is no trial in Hildebrand? People didn't want to do that story for their trials roulette so they made it not required. The sad truth is majority of people don't play a MMORPG for a super story driven game if people wanted that they could play a single player game.
In a MMORPG I am looking for end-game content something that will last. Story doesn't last i only do that once and never again so there isn't much point in investing so much into it. Look at Heavensward the 50-60 story was great but they invested too much into that part and the end-game was lacking badly and 3.1 came and it was even worse.
People keep saying pay to win but not realize that there is already a pay to win mechanic in the game of buying retainers but some reason people don't mention that? If you know how to use retainers properly it can give you a huge advantage against someone who only has 2. If you don't want this then get rid of extra retainers because that is pay to win. If people want to skip the story that's their choice and im not sure why people are so afraid or might quit because if you quit due to this i'm sorry but your just a fool for leaving for something as small as this to get new players in the game which this game really needs.
New players keep MMOs alive and if the game isn't getting new players the game is slowly dying. If this is one of the ways without impacting their development cycle too much and waste time going back and changing quests I will take it. People have said those that want to be good will go out of their way to research those that want to be bad will always be bad no matter what.
I can understand both sides of the argument but sadly the side with not having the potion keeps giving the same reason or no reason and the side who want the potion are giving more reasons for it. Honestly when I read some of these relies im starting to believe people forget this is a MMORPG where people want to do fun endgame content not read a visual novel.

Except what advantages do these players have? Okay, they're now at 50. They'll be utterly useless unless the learn a proper rotation and they aren't geared for even mid-level content. Sure, it will be quicker for them to get caught up now if they put in the dedication, but none of this gives players a distinct advantage over players like you or I. The Anima weapon isn't anyway comparable because that gives a new player the second best weapon the moment they exit the character creator. Take Black Desert, for example. They have a system wherein you lose EXP if you die. Each world boss has a plethora of OHKO tactics, plus you gain higher credit the more damage dealt. So you have people Leeroy Jerkins themselves, die and what's this... they can buy a revival flask that not only removes the EXP loss, but revives them right on the spot they died instead of in a city where they'd have to backtrack to the boss. That's what I call P2W because the system is purposely designed to tempt you into buying something to gain a direct benefit on other players. And the game itself screws you into it with cheap mechanics. FFXIV doesn't do that, even if a jump potion were added.Yes you can argue that those are pay for convenience and it isn't pay to win. Why, everything can be really fall in the categories of pay for convenience. I think anything that is exp boost, instant level gain to max level, skip all contents are pay to win. Despite years of villify the cash shop, SE hasn't exploited it yet. And no, a jump potion isn't that. In vertical progression, you will inevitably reach a point where the task of catching up becomes far too daunting for newer players, especially through who only care about playing with friends. Now I don't necessarily like this, but provided SE includes ways of forcing these players to learn, I don't particularly care either. People want to throw $40-50 on what amounts to a story skip and little else? Meh. Doesn't hurt me.
