People will tell you that since we already have bads now it won't matter if we have bads with a level potion. :/I read that the new people who level skip in WOW to 80 didn't know how to play and made the dungeons runs worse, the community got more toxic with bad player not knowing their role. FF14 already has this problem and assuming they will release the lvl potion with the next expansion as a bonus (just like other MMO's) duty finder will fill with people not knowing their rotations. Clear parties in party finder will be 100% wipe parties for EX raids because the new guys who paid their way to the top will be far worse than a person learning a fight with a class they now how to play. Most likely the lvl 60 potion people will be DPS to hide the fact that they suck because spotting a new lvl 60 tank or healer is easy.
That's when you have to pick one of the less evils. Rather have a bad player who played the game for a while, or a new player at 60 with 100% no idea what they are doing.
Just going to leave this here....
4. A lot of people are assuming that the 3.x cycle is going to mimic 2.x and end with Patch 3.5. Is this the plan? Can you tell us what patch you plan on ending with?
The official answer has not been revealed yet (laugh).
If we were to announce it, people would start debating about when the next expansion pack will be released. It will be heavily linked to the main scenario, so if you could please stand by until Fan Festival for more information (smile).

Leveling potions would be shit in this game. Get 1 class to level cap for $100. Yeah no.
Instead of a potion, add a optional leveling path, one which ignores all filler quests and focus only the important MSQ quests.
An option to streamline 2.X so it can be run through over a weekend of semi-determined play would be alright, maybe even make it the default and have an NPC knocking about who can activate 'archive' mode or 'new game+' for people who want to run through the entire story in its original form.
A paid for leveling potion that skips huge chunks of story is a terrible idea. Paying for levels is bad full stop actually.
Sounds like they'd be giving the players choices to skip the story to progress to later content......Don't see the wrong in it. If its the fact that some players E-Peen will be offended I can see why players would be against this, but if there's nothing giving the players a higher chance than others I don't see why this would be a problem. Players can skip parts of the story they were attracted to from all the trailers (looking at the Heavensward one) and play with their friends. SE mentioned a while back players felt discouraged when invited by their veteran friends not being able to run content with them. It may help keep players during their first few days of playing instead of the "traditional" MMO binge. Not sure what I'd call it.
Oh, and story isn't always what players come for.
Make it like WoW, as I heard, their names are in red so everyone know they bought their lvls, easy to know what to do next...
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
the idea to have to skip old content leaves me kind of half half.
I dont care personally if people start mid, end or begining, they dont play the game for me, they play it for themselves from this, anyone does what suits them.
No, what preoccupies me more is this: forcing new people to start from ARR and go through everything is certainly good if not necessary for various reasons BUT there is a huge BUT. How long is it going to take them to level and reach then end ? or rather catch up with the rest of us?
Dungeons for old contents are already now currently taking forever, try to do a primal and you will see how long it takes (even a Void Ark takes forever), besides nobody or very few (not enough at that) will help those new comers to content that is far far far far behind for those that took it from start. So what then ? we will have a frustrated playerbase not able to progress because nobody is there. Is that better then starting mid-way ? I Wonder.
Because of this, I would rather prefer see the game live, even if some flaws, then having no new blood because being adamant on locking it behind some mandatory stuff and have the game *die* sort of kind of.
Levelling potions? up to a certain level? why not ? what does it matter to you, me whoever if someone uses it ? it already exists even if in a lesser way, 3% exp increase, increased exp in roulettes, PoTD, you name it, would that really be a problem?. For some, no matter how good/skilled you are you will anyway be a bad/unskilled.
The only thing that I would like to see changed, like some suggested, to give access to classes that are currently available only in Ishgard from the regular cities of ARR. Anything else, doesnt really matter as far as I am concerned. Time changes, the game has evolved.
Other potential solution, a wholetogether new storyline that people can take Midway wihtout needing the previous knowledge, why not ?
Just some thoughts really.
