With an endgame this bland, I was actually thankful for them giving us a fairly interesting and epic story (for a MMO).
If players were to skip that story they would lose interest in the game even faster than now.

No just no!
Don't let them buy levels or skip the story. Simply increase the exp rewards from the story. Make it that they can reach lvl 50 in 1.5 weeks. Increase exp alittle for HW story so they reach 60 in 1.5 weeks. So total 3 weeks till they reach the new expantion.
Waaay better than skipping and buying levels.
Then they level normaly with everyone elese in the new expantion.

"BAAAAAARD!" - 2018
I'm level 54 on my BRD and still haven't finished the ARR story. I think this is a little absurd.
At the very least, no more locking entering the zones and DEFINITELY they should not be locking jobs behind all of this grind.

I wish i had started heavensward at level 54, i wouldnt have had to wait a day of grinding everytime i hit a level wall. Youll fly through HW so fast, trust me the story is nice and youll want to keep going on instead of getting stuck running side quests fates and dungeons for a day till you can continue
Stop trying to make everything require less time. That's the point of mmos, time investment.
Well, i guess this means i will be able to play with my US friends in Sargatanas while not having to transfer or abandon my progress >w<
No instant boost potion.
I'm fine with allowing people access to the content without requiring the completion of the MSQ.
Majority view sticks. So unfortunately that results in things becoming more and more trivial / self gratifying to serve the casual (read; candy crush level/occasional) gamer. From my perspective it strips the worth out of playing at all. In the sense that in the days of old, the effort/class ability and general community presence of the individual mattered.
You felt like if you logged out you'd actually be missed so to speak because things took work. Those days are rapidly coming to an end, to be replaced with a very shallow trivial experience designed to maximise people through the door - with little concern for retainment.
The full effects of what some are mentioning (b2p/p2w style) take time to manifest. So no doubt the naysayers will say its an overreaction (as they do every time these things happen). But mark my words it will not be in the best interests of the games quality or future. And it will see everyone who holds achievement to still mean something, quitting in droves.

No. I don't want this. I could write a long post why but I'm sure someone has it covered.
The question shouldn't be if it will potentially come or not, but how much it'll cost since its definitely coming. They might even toss one in with 4.0 like wow does now with their expansions lol.
