now that hunts can upgrade our gear. i just started raiding and was hoping more people would use the raid finder now everyone just does hunts. why do they keep doing this? why are hunts a means to upgrade gear?

During catch up patches (like this one) hunts tend to surge in popularity again. It's a quick, easy way to get tomes, and for the most part, anyone who has been actively raiding either already has upgraded their gear, or this eases their ability to do so, helping them to progress in the raids. I'm personally not a fan of hunts myself, but I've accepted that this is the flow of things. I tend to do less during catch up patches, even if I do still need upgrades, because I really just don't care for hunts. I do them, yes, and if I'm already in a party and they go to do a hunt, I won't refuse to cooperate, but anyone who knows me knows it's one of my least favorite things to do. At least Nid Ex, beast tribes, and Aquapolis/Palace of the Dead will keep me occupied for a while.
They need a fate zone radius to buff them as more individuals enter them & a slight buff for ARR hunts. It takes around 3 people to burn an ARR hunt in under a minute and that can't facilitate the number of people on my low populated server, I can't imagine how Balmung/Gilgamesh would run![]()

I ignore them. Not worth the drama.
I enjoy the race.

I like them but I usually get burnt out really fast by the drama and repetition of it.
Personally, I am THANKFUL they made hunts an extra avenue for upgrade materials. Without it would be even slower for me to get my anima items done... not to mention the new mark log for lore upgrades.

This... I'd potentially like to do some with friends, but if you dare pull to solo/lowman, the server acts like you eat babies for a living or something... Please do forgive me for not enjoying a mindless zergrush...
I'd love it if they added a new form of Levequest that essentially lets you spawn your own version of Hunt targets, complete with a build up to spawning them that actually feels more like you're actively hunting a target... Perhaps some ZNM style hierarchy to work towards, so you can't just jump to an S Rank, you need to work your way through various "Levehunts" to get to them... Really not a fan of the lazy FATE style implementation SE went for, they're welcome to keep it in place, but I'd love the option to dump 10 leve allowances on a Levequest that lets me tackle my own S Rank with friends in a manner that's much more entertaining than a LS calling out that a target is up and everyone swarming it...
They're frustrating. Too much drama, far too many people fighting over the same enemy - especially on larger servers - and often by the time somebody is tipped off to the arrival of a hunt enemy it's already dead by the time you arrive.
I do, however, enjoy doing them when they're not a priority for the masses. People are generally nicer in those periods.
Don't care for it. Other than hunt bills, I only bother with the ones I see shouts for in my area.
