Demon Brick Earring?

i have found this in the 3.3 patchnotes:

they are adjusting the defense for a "Demon Brick Earring". but there is no earring with this name in the database on the lodestone and i have never heared before of such an earring.

does it already exist? is it a localisation failure? are we getting such an earring in the future? :O

that's interesting. the link says it's an item from patch 3.1. but i can't find them in the item list from the 3.1 patch notes. and i can't find them on the lodestone: Earrings lvl 1-10

i also found this Coblyn Earring on the page you have linked. this one is also missing on the lodestone :O

Might be for Fanfest where beating the trial nets a server the earring, just like with the previous ones?

As I tried searching the actual Eorzea Database for this item and came up with nothing (it's not even shown at all on the Lodestone), yet is listed on Gamerescape, I'm going to chalk this up as an item that SE probably did plan on introducing in 3.1 and thus included in the patch files... only to change their minds about using it at the eleventh hour, too late to change the Patch Notes, and thus they were dummied out. It's possible they might bring them in at a later date, but at the moment, I think they're just an item that is in the files and not actually used at this time.

If I had to hazard a guess about where they would eventually be acquired, besides a Fanfest reward as PotatoTree mentioned, a high-level FATE reward in Heavensward is also another possibility (like how the Behemoth Earring is received as a reward upon getting a gold medal on completion of the 'We Fought a Dzu' FATE in Coerthas Western Highlands.). Either way, SE will add it in when they feel it's necessary.

My guess it's a new reward item for irl contests, similar to the Noble's Barding, Mandragora Choker, Bluebird Earring, etc.

Strange. It's right here in the database. The Coblyn Earring too. For some reason you can't search for them in the database itself, but XIVdb still has links to them.
