    Once you realize that this game is built on planned obsolescence, you can make and set, just like the guy few post above me said, the goals that you care about. Most of stuff in this game is just fluff and has no real lasting purpose. That's how I deal with it. Heck, I haven't even touch Alexander 2. Sure I can't get a 240 lore weapon cause of it, but I don't need it for any content.

    Is it reset Tuesday yet.

    I question whether I'm playing a PvE game with PvP mixed in, or I am I playing a PfG.

    With FFXI I never, ever had that issue lol.
    I feel the exact same way. I've played XI and never came across this problem. With XIV, it's very monotonous and extremely repetitive; rinse and repeat style equates to boredom for me after awhile, especially when you do the same two dungeons for expert roulette over and over again...

    Well, yes and no. I can play XIV for about 90 mins per evening and get more done than I could in 5-6 hours of 11. Heck, on DPS half my evening in XI could be spent simply trying to get/form a party.

    It felt it had more longevity because everything took longer to do.

    Personally, I love that an hour or two on XIV is sufficient to achieve some stuff and I can then go play something else for the rest of the evening.

    Think about it, nobody wants to die, there's rules to this game son, I'm justified.

    Yep ;;

    Not really just that, there was also a lot more to do. In fairness, it took a few years for the game to reach that state... but that was also a different sort of game altogether, where up until the level cap was raised, stuff didn't just get replaced every 3-6 months.

    In response to those saying that playing too much will burn you out, this is an MMORPG a genre defined by immersive games and worlds that (infamously) consume the lives of its players due to their addicting gameplay, interesting mechanics and rewarding meaningful content. I feel that if someone gets bored there is an issue. I too am bored of the game and its formulaic content and SE's lack of attentiveness to those who want a change. I feel that many consistent players are being alienated instead of rewarded for their dedication for the game. In an MMO, it is not healthy for a patch to launch only to have people unsub or stop playing due to lack of interest after 1 week of playing (in my case 3.1 and 3.3 I was only interested for a week before feeling bored).

    XIV ARR was only good starting out because it was new. Everything was somewhat challenging. To be honest, XIV lacks a interactive community and a immersive world. These are the two biggest flaws of Eorzea I see in truth. The game -does- have longetivity issues too because there's no incentive to do any of the content once you beat it until Square decides to force it as a step in relic progression. Once you miss that boat, it's irrelevant again. I don't even see Palace of the Dead lasting long because you can't get anything out of it but glamours. Lo' and Behold, will probably be sold on Marketboard, thus killing the point of even going in.

    It's a week into 3.3 and I am ready for 3.4.

    The dev team has a serious lack of creativity and there would be TONS to do if they didn't just render everything obsolete patch by patch. That is why xi had so much to do. Years after content was released it was still worth the time to do it because no matter what there was something you needed from that content. On top of that the simple fact that the gear was still good 5 years later made you want to do it too, even if it was the 50th time because those stupid thf gloves just wont drop in dynamis /rage.

    Sure Tanaka released a game that was no where near what it should have been. But Yoshi is taking a game with tons of potential and killing it with the speed of this treadmill. We need more interesting content that stands the test of time over higher and higher and higher ilvls that last nearly no time.

    I've been with this game since beta v1, never left, never unsubbed. but I am seriously shopping around lately because not only the treadmill speed but this #&%($ story hasn't ended since 2010 and I'm over it.
