Wondering if I'm the only one feeling this way...

First let me say I love this game a lot for numerous reasons... along with FFXI (I have active both subs)... with that said, I do have some concerns regarding game longevity and keeping me interested...

I've played the most recent patch... content that I generally play (minus PvP and savage mode) and loved every challenging minute. The stories are fantastic... but after raising my jobs to 60, getting il 225 on my dps jobs and my loving ast... getting all hand/land (except fish >.>') to 60, making decent gil... I'm bored.

There I said it. So I leap away back to FFXI... to my puppetmaster to continue grinding job points with my i119 III Verethragna.

I'm playing other games (PS4), waiting for a future announcement for the next patch... I did start the anima but realized pretty quick (after 2 Zetas)... there was no real point (due to how quickly the anima becomes outclassed/dated)...

Maybe I'm the only one feeling this...

Well, there's nothing wrong with being bored to be honest. Play something else for a while to prevent burnout (then you'll be bored AND hate the game...that's no good).

Though I'm not sure why people keep saying the anima is useless. Since I don't raid, it's been the only weapon I've needed...? I upgrade it and it's literally lasted me since they released it.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.

In an MMO like this, you have to make your own goals to have fun! Also, play other games, maybe take a break for a month or so. That always makes me miss the game a little.

I get burned out often. I think the problem is that we do get on here and we play it so much that just like anything else, we get tired of it. It's totally okay to take a break, and its totally okay to play other games, or even do something other than playing games. When Heavensward came out I took 5 days off to level to 60, beat the MSQ, and get all of my tome gear and upgrade it so that I maxed my gear out before Alex came out. When Alex came out, I cleared every single floor in one day. The next week, did it again. and then after the third week, I dropped my sub and took a two month break. Now when I play, I take my time. My crafters will get to 60 some day. It will be a while before the cap is raised (possibly to 70) so I have time to get them there. It takes a while between tome sets to be released, and so we have weeks to get all of the gear. If you don't cap that week, its ok. I was still healing new content in nothing but partially upgraded Esoterics gear, and Gordias stuff. It was fine. Take your time, take your breaks, and don't feel like you absolutely have to grind. They give us plenty of time between patches to get things done.

Must have a lot of time on your hands! A few hours a night is all I can spare and this game fits perfectly for my lifestyle. Endgame crafting and gathering is enough to keep the ball rolling if like others have stated, you set goals. I'm not good enough to be a pro raider but it's fun to do weekly runs and just top off what I can. Own a house? Redecorate, after wandering aimlessly through the various wards seeing what other's have come up with.

Yes OP, this game has longevity issues. They really ought to start addressing them.

With FFXI I never, ever had that issue lol.

I can agree with you there, I do a lot of things in this game but this expansion the amount of time content has lasted has been dreadfully short. I mean, the latest patch it, what, a week ago maybe 2 and I am already out of things to do.
That being said, I tend to stay far, far away from the mini-games and savage content so maybe that is where they hope we would go? Perhaps Palace of the Dead will remedy this situation.

Taking a break from a game is a pretty common thing and one I tend to do too (and yes I take breaks from FF14 every now and then) and after a while I'm ready for more FF14 and I'm enjoying playing this game again. Have a nice break and take the time to recharge yourself with other games and come back whenever you feel like you'd enjoy dome FF14.

Its funny... I just was thinking about that. I'm a PUP person in FFXI and looking at spamming Alluvion Skirmish Y to start creating a Automaton Magic pup nuking set...since I'm approaching 1200 job points. That alone will take awhile to create... in addition, there are some specialized rings I wanna work on getting to enhance my automaton's enmity gain when tanking... etc. So I don't get bored like this with FFXI and I've been in endgame for more than a minute. HA! Funny that... and kinda sad.
