    Unable to complete version check... AGAIN!

    Alright development team and Square Enix for the love of all that is good, please please PLEASE fix the way your patcher and updater work because this is getting out of hand.

    Every. Single. Update. Since 3.1 has seen me hit this error and I know I am not alone.
    Every. Single. Update. You know how that feels like? I get up early or setup alarms so that I can download the updates and patches early in order to play with my FC friends but every single time I hit this wall and have to wait several hours for who knows what to happen in the systems so that my PS4 would wise up and download the updates.

    I have tried all suggestions and all alternatives your technical support has offered, reset router, restart PlayStation, open ports, even contact my provider to see if there is anything limiting my connection but nothing, the error persists.

    This has got to stop, so please do something.

    I had this problem today also for the first time. I tried all sort of things from restoring licences to rebuilding databases but to no avail. Then I remembered resetting my network settings to auto the other day. I usually use the google DNS settings (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4) for faster downloads. I switched my DNS back to the google ones and the update working straight away. Could be worth a try.

    I am no technical expert and have no idea if this could, would or should do anything at all, or if it was just a coincidence. Good Luck.

    Well, i Don't really understand why this is the case but changing the DNS Settings worked! Thanks for that. Its not coincidence as we have 3 different PS4s, all of them patched properly after changing the DNS. Weird issue you Wouldn't expect a console player to have to solve. But hopefully thats all done and dusted, should i change DNS Settings back to default or leave them?

    Good to hear! I use the google ones all the time as it seems to speed up downloads in general for PS4, it shouldn't be an issue to leave them as they are. I can only assume DNS affects how, who and when the PSN rolls out updates to people. The issue was with the launcher not updating which I believe is on the PSN side.

    Play on a PS4 and logged on and updated no problem.

    Having the same issue here as well. I've tried resetting the ps4 multiple times, reset the network connection and I still keep getting the same error.

    I had this exact issue on ps4. I tried resetting router, rebuilding database, powering off ect.

    I fixed it by grabbing my smart phone > settings > internet sharing > turn on > share over wifi > on ps4 navigate to network > setup connection > find your phone in the list > enter password the phone supplies(where you turned on net sharing) > Start FFXIV > patch downloaded right away.

    *note was on a windows phone.
    iPhone and android menus would be different, I cant help you find the relevant menus there.

    Whats happening is your phone is acting as a router with its own IP. Not sure why you need a new IP, the patcher for some reason wont download with your old IP from your normal router.
    I GUESS you could manually enter a new IP for your router (not obtain automatically) and that would work too...but you have to be somewhat tech savvy, so the above was a much simpler fix for me personally.

    I would assume this works as pc fix too, cant be sure though.

    Sounds like a ISP problem then a PS4 or SE problem.

    Of all the things I tried, changing DNS is not one of them. But... how on earth do you change DNS on your PS4?
