What does the 'Ala' in Ala Morn mean?

According to the Dragonspeak dictionary Morn means Death while Ala can mean Allag/Allagan. The name of Nidhogg's Ala Morn move then translates into into either Allagan Death or Death of Allag. This name doesn't seem that accurate to me and I want to know if there is something else that 'Ala' means or if it does mean Alla in this scenario.

Alan can mean Allag. The N on the end stands for an association with death. Ala means "all/always", which is why it doesn't include an "H" or an "N"; it brings both kinds under the umbrella. Alamorn, all one word, is meant to mean "Extinction" (death of all / death forever).

Now, most dragonspeak words have some basis in some real-world interlingual root. Akh relates to arc (curve), Morn relates to mort (death). Ala likely relates to "all" and by extension of the conciseness of dragonspeak brings "always" under the umbrella.

Ala Morn (with the space), then, likely just modifies the pre-existing Akh Morn, which is Circle of Death (an AOE). This spear-thrusting tankbuster is meant to one-shot an undergeared and unprepared tank, thus reflecting the change from Akh (circle) to Ala (all).

Though, the right way to translate it can be tricky. For example, I had assumed that Hess Afah (the top of Sohm Al) meant "To See Forever", because it was the highest point in all of Eorzea. However, it really means "The Watch Eternal", as that's where - for all time - the guardian of Sohm Al kept watch for those who would defile the sacred mount.

So... Complete Death? Kills Anything? Permanent Death? This is the part I'm bad at, lol.

    EDIT
It stands for "All of your HP and now you are dead". Adjusted for the conciseness of dragons, the proper translation is HP0. [/sarcasm]

"Ala" means all/always according to the sticky.

Always death? Can't be "All death" since its not an AoE (if it is, meaning's a bit twisted)

Forever dead? Dead forever? Death forever?

Ala means "All" or "Always" in draconic; Mor[n] means "Die."

The most probable is "Always Die[s]," or more likely "Always Kill[s]," befitting a tank buster. It'll one-shot anyone but a properly geared tank (I think it deals ~16k to me without cooldowns...).

Maybe we are taking ala a little too literally in the sense that we have been told it means all/always. Why not translate it as certain. I mean if something is supposed to always happen it is certain, right. And Certain Death for the attack name makes some sense, its and attack that is certain to cause death. Maybe?

I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

Perhaps it translates to "Death to all"? Nidhogg certainly has a fixation on killing any and all who stand in his way.

How about, Certain Death. Seems to fit both with the translation and what it should mean in context. A powerful attack meant to one shot anyone. The fact that you survive should be seen as an especially heroic exception.
