So can HM Trials start dropping weapons again please?

I miss when HM trials used to actually give us weapons way back in 2.0 and would like to see something like that added again to non-extreme ones. It's getting frustrating Queing up for a Trial to get something like Sephirot or Final Steps only to have someone drop out immediately. If people had an incentive to stick with the fight they would maybe be less likely to leave. The idea of getting a weapon for an alt job or just for glamour is appealing enough for most people I feel.

The weapons don't even have to be that great because I know the Dev team doesn't want to make the Ex fights irrelevant. For Final Steps an iLv.210 weapon or something would be enough because I'd gladly farm it to get weapons for all my alt jobs.

I mean...heck....at least for glamours. The stats don't even have to be great or relevant at all. But it would help to have better catch up weapons too for those who are picking up the game late and needing to gear up to continue content.

Sounds like an idea to me.

Throw in a version of the weapon that is 10-15 ilvl's below the extreme version in the HM version, then throw in an upgrade material into the ex version.

That way midcores can get a weapon upgrade for challenging the ex versions, and those after the extreme version have 2 methods for getting it.

Even with an item incentive, people will still drop from Seph and Nidhogg in roulette.

Too many people can't follow simple instructions and these trials are often wipefests.

Titan HM was the sane way back in the day, even though it dropped usable weapons.

People used to drop from Titan HM too. Many forget that he actually was a brick wall for a majority of the playerbase with people paying gil for carries. I remember tanks leaving because one player didn't have the HP or any Darklight gear. Same thing, different trial.

I remember back in the day on Leviathan (I'm currently on Gilga), there were accusations that some groups/FCs would deliberately queue into HM trials to purposefully fail, causing a distressed playerbase to feel required to pay for a carry.

Was that ever researched, by the way? I wonder if there was a nasty banhammer swung after that ordeal.

They should make the Extreme Primals drop the upgraded version of weapons with glowing effect, and leave the normal versions for Hard Mode. Instead of making them worthless crafted items just so the crafters can make more money.

I never heard of that but I highly doubt that any one FC could have been enough to influence people to pay for clears by queuing. Anyone who would have queued up again after a failed run would likely have gotten a different group. It was a combination of things with Titan. Firstly, maybe people just weren't geared enough. There was an accepted HP minimum across the data center that if you didn't meet that HP, you were considered unfit for the duty. I believe 2 pieces of darklight was also minimum.
Also, the game suffered from major lag issues, especially noticeable in that fight. People would dodge and be very clearly out of an AoE, then seconds later, even after the AoE was over,someone would just drop dead.

It was also a major mentality that the healer should heal through literally any damage taken, so DPS would stand in whatever was there and if it didn't kill them, they'd just continue to eat damage. If the healer doesn't keep up the whole party fails. So....basically bad attitudes, bad lag, and bad players made Titan extremely difficult and people would pay to get 7 other people who wasn't likely to fail.

I got my WHM relic after I outright refused to heal the DPS who took an avoidable hit. After they started realizing I wouldn't fix their mistakes, they suddenly started dodging aoes and we cleared. But believe me...I was tempted to pay for a clear...but fortunately...I was poor.

IIRC, it wasn't just one group. And it could have caught on with multiple worlds on a single data center. Not sure, but my head is starting to itch from this dang-blasted tin-foil hat.

yeah good old titan, couldnt do coil without finishing it, couldnt tank it unless you had over 5k hp(sounds like a joke right? lol nah hp was that low in i70) kind of frustrating when the main tactic was "auto attack in first phase for lb2" lol.
