Im assuming then that Raid weapons are better then any level of the Relic weapons? Even the highest possible (Reconditioned Anima)?

best Raid ilevel = best Relic ilevel +5 (currently it is ilevel 245 for best raid weapon and ilevel 240 for best relic weapon)
If better or worse depend of the secondary stats on the raid weapon.

Also you don't need ilevel 70-130 relic questline to start the anima weapon questline (start with ilevel 170).

usually it's the same lv as other weps you can get, and only catch up to raid weps a month before new raid weps are released.
the good part about this step, is that you can choose stats, unlike before when many weps had shit stats, so there was no point in getting them.
relic is usually waste of time, when you could just kill seph, and get an equally good wep.
what lv is new step? i guess it's 235, and apparently nidhogg is easy, so it's faster to just kill him, and get a 235 weps, for much less hassle.
relic is just vanity item - e-peen for the elite players who race to be first to get it, and afk a week in idyll, to show off.

New step is 240 but takes a while to do. Customizable stats and an extra tier V materia melded into it as a bonus. (Basically it's like a weapon with 3 V's melded IIRC, which so far is impossible on other weapons since most weapons only have 2 slots)

Depending on your job's lore weapon secondaries the relic will be slightly better than it even when it gets up to 240. Not by much though. Only way to get accuracy on a weapon which helps healers a lot if they don't want to spend money on penta melds or can free up some melds for other stuff like VIT on accessories.

For non min-maxers, doesn't matter too much as the difference is small enough to not be worth the effort most of the time but that's always been the case with relic.

I guess the current step need around 1 month to finish. That would be 2 month before the next raid.

1 week? good groups tend to clear it rather quickly.
and relic is pointless unless you're raiding anyway.
