Should The Best weapon be more than 5 ilvls higher?

So.. about weapon ilvl, with 3.4 + Expansion coming..soon? the raid gear looking to be 270- weapon 275 ? are we getting to the point where we should add more ilvl to the weapon? at the first coil--The weapon was i95 vs i90 relic, 5.5% higher ilvl; now we have 245 vs 240, 2% higher, you still get a WD point but that WD point means less and less each ilvl; I know the secondaries are usually BiS for most classes which is where they get higher value then the 240, as in warrior is Crit/Det vs 240 being Parry/SS, regardless, shouldn't we make it 10 ilvls higher? Are we that against rewarding serious endgame raiders. I just don't think the reward for beating the most difficult bosses should be so minuscule 250 vs the 240 would still only be 4.2% higher ilvl, lower than the first coil difference

Originally the Binding Coil of Bahamut weapons were i90 like the Relic Zeniths (or +1s as they were known at first). The Coil weapons were later boosted to make them more valuable.

The Final Coil of Bahamut weapons were i135, the same as the Relic Weapon Zetas.
I assume that the raid and relic weapons will end up the same ilevel again with the raid weapon being available earlier .

It wasn't as galling originally, though, because you had to beat three relatively difficult primal trials to get the relic. Now, you just spam faceroll content ad nauseum to get a weapon of the same strength as something that requires actual skill, coordination, and commitment to get.

I say this as a non-raider, too - I think the raid gear SHOULD be stronger than what you can get from spamming hunts, dungeons, and beast tribe dailies. Getting the weapon "earlier" isn't really that much to write home about, in my opinion.

Admittedly, making the raid weapon the unquestionable best does kind of sap a raider's interest in doing a relic for their main class, so you'd see less interest in that content there.

True, the relic wasn't as easy as it is now but it was still an alternative to raiding to get the highest ilevel.

I'd rather see more alternatives instead of one source having the unquestionable best to be honest. I understand that the people who do challenging content want to be rewarded for their effort but I think it would be better for the game if a wider variety of content is relevant.
To me the raid weapon being available earlier is a fair compromise. Plus in the future once the raid is uncapped the people capable of clearing it will be able to gear alts much faster than those only able to grind relic content.

The issue with this is that it'll cause gear ilvl to go up even faster throughout the game's lifespan, making it easier for the stats to get out of control.
Another issue is how the raid's difficulty would be scaled. Scaling it with the pre-raid gear in mind, means it'd possibly end up being too easy when you do end up getting raid gear. Scaling it with the actual raid gear in mind means you might not see much progression if you're unlucky with drops.

I think the current iLvl design is fine. Hardcore raiders temporarily get gear that's 10 ilvls higher (15 for weapons) than what's available for non-raiders, and then a catch up patch slowly allows non-raiders to upgrade their gear.

it doesn't matter because there's nothing harder to fight with it.

Actually the game needs to get rid off from the iLv crap. What iLv is going to be in the future? iLv1500 and 1505 for the best weapons? 9000 and 9005?
