The Relic Weapons

Its honestly only as hard as you make it. The Anima weapons are "meant" to be done over time (usually 2-3 months on average). If you wanted to get it in 1-2 weeks, yeah, you're gonna have a bad time. I'm taking the very casual route to finishing my Anima and also working 40hrs/5days, so I can relate. I just do a few daily roulettes (not minding if I miss one) to get Esoterics and Poetics, spend my allowances getting Vilekin, and doing the 24-man raids once a week. It's really just become part of the background things I do while playing FFxiv, thats the only way I can make it feel like "non-work".

(If I recalled it use to be 10X of 5 different mobs + 3 Dungeon Bosses per page)X3 per book X 15 Books

total 50 Mobes 6 bosses 3 Fates per book
I belever there were 12 books at the time so we had to do 600 Mobs 36 Dungeon Bosses and 36 Fates wich could take anywhere from 2-3 hours per spawn.

It's not taking that long. 1 day per step is all you need. Only missing 4 relics now, with 1 novus and 3 atma weapons now, I will finish them all soon.

The Warriors axe in deep black looks as awesome with the Odin costume as the sword and shield in metallic blue together with the warrior of light full armor from crystal tower.

Lets take a look at it before and after the nerfs :

(before)
1) 12 crystals from fates (drop rate was like 0.005%)
2) 9 Books (100 mobs, fates and most of the fates had a timer of 2 - 12 hrs, can't remember the exact number, dungeons - you weren't able to unsync or solo them)
3) Alexandrite (hated that part so much, drop rate was even worse than the fate crystals)
4) Special Items from the dungeons (the drop rate was like 1% if even, you couldn't solo the dungeon and que's could take up to 2 hrs, you wouldn't know if you got the drop till you left the dungeon)
5) Lights (do I have to say more? You gained lights in dungeons/trials/hunts/ I think there was something else too but i forgot lol, Some dungeons/trials gave you bonus but that window was only 4 hrs long, some windows were primals that a lot of people couldn't finish sucessfully, therefore you spent hrs in that trial trying to not miss out on the bonus window.)

(after the hundreds of nerfs)
1) Crystals drop rate has been increased (it's like every third fate you get one, not even kidding)
2) 9 Books but the mobs have been reduced, the fate spawn rates are reduced, dungeons can be solo'd - unsync'd, leves take 2 minutes to finish)
3) Alexandrite (old A and S ranks, most A ranks can be solo'd, maps (eso + daily map quest), fates drop rate increased)
4) Special Items from dungeons (now 100% drop rate after you finished the dungeon)
5) Lights (dungeons can be solo'd and you'll be able to gain lights, there's no reason to wait for a bonus window anymore)

Before the nerf it took 2 - 8 months depending on the player to finish the relic.
After the nerf it takes 4 - 7 hrs and that includes bathroom breaks lol.

I don't think it's hard/difficult to get the old relic, wait for the new relic that you can start at level 60. Not difficult either but super time consuming compared to the old relics (after the nerf of course)

Most people ignored the FATEs and farmed the alexandrites with daily expert dungeon quest and hunt.

Not that it matters but yes I did do that too. However to that time I was able to play 19 hrs a day. I wasn't gonna sit there and wait for the daily reset or hunts to respawn, I tried farming fates on top of that in between our raids, to get the weapon faster.

Used to be much harder; those groups of 3 random enemies? Used to be 10, those easy unsynced dungeons? Unsynced wasn't a thing till heavensward, and i beleive, the books themselves used to cost 200 soldiery tomestones.

The animus books burnt me out....I did 1 per day so I didn't feel like slamming my head into a glass shard. They did nerf it from 10 enemies to 3 so at least there's that but it's still suuuuuch a pain. The reason it was nerfed was bc originally it suposed to be a time sink to keep ppl busy but now it is only glamour.


4-7 hours to finish the relic is a giant over exaggeration even after the 3.1 nerfs. The first step took me a good 5 hours, 12 hours(total over 10 days) for the second, Alex took two or three days bc poetic cost & 50 roulette & a couple mil, light was the most burning out bc I was desperate so I spammed ifrit normal(25 seconds) & tam tara(fastest unsynced dungeon @ 7-10 mins about 40 runs needed to cap), & even though the dungeons could be soloed & have 100% drop it still takes 10-15 mins per run and there's 15ish dungeons & again you'll burn yourself out & for the final step just repeated the light step except you also need like 90 poe per thing & there's twelve so that took two days, it took me about 3ish weeks to finish & I was so burnt out I didn't even wanna play lol

Ill never understand why people think the books to be the worst part of the quest line. The next step was what roughly 75 days minimum to complete and not to mention buying the materia if you didn't spirit bond? And soul glazing was so exiting too omg! Give me a break the books were by far the best step except for the original quest of getting the relic.

@LunaFaye little correction for alexandrite => 75 poetic for one map that give 5 Alex diable in 20 sec each

Litteraly to gather 75 Alex you need 20 min counting teleportation which is the most time consulting and because you can only have 2 maps on you
