I think Cait Sith said something to that effect...which means It's time for me to head off to Youtube...

and It seems all Cait Sith had to say about Oza was that it's in the way and that we must defeat it, bacillary. The whole defense system thing might just be speculation and headcannon at this point

    Here's what I got

Seems like the platform where it sucked us into had the Oschon symbols on them. I guess I need to look at the CS again, but Cait Sith was talking about defense mechanisms of which Ozma was probably one of them.

Afterall, Forgall was trying to break the ward placed in the entrance of the pyramid (in his brief text) and then there was that giant monolith on the way to Ozma. After Ozma there's Caifosteri
Calofisteri haunts the Tomb of the Nullstone as the relic's self-appointed guardian. This mighty sorceress of Mhach achieved a twisted form of immortality by combining the power of aether-infused crystal with the ritual consumption of voidsent blood.
Back on the subject of Ozma, it does seem like he's got a dimension within himself where the people/cities sucked will be obliterated via the meteor it summons within itself?

I'm going to assume the world Ozma sucks the party into is a world he devoured which is probably Nym going by what I found on the Final Fantasy General wikia. I'd love to know more about XIV's interpretation of Ozma, he was a weird boss then full of mystery and nothing has changed in 2016's rendition of him.

He might look like a giant marble but he's also pretty fascinating.

See, now I'm disappointed.. When I first realized the Parrock was now an actually zone, I was excited, claiming 3.3 to be the best patch for the dozenth time... Yet, going back... There is still no Rammbroes equivalent for the Shadow of Mhach... I was always disappointed with him after Syrcus Tower, given he didn't provide much lore on the bosses there, but now SE has just dropped that idea entirely? Really disappointing that they don't have Cait Sith sitting in the Parrock (well, she(?) is sitting around there...) providing us with some lore tidbits on Void Ark/Mhach and the bosses we encounter...

Seems wierd that such advanced civilizations, capable of making dimensions and contracting demons, could fall apart from a flood.

We don't know much about that Umbral Event other than its source: the Elementals and Oha Sok, their rage manifest. However, given the fact that the Void Ark was so high up for so long, we can probably assume that it wasn't your average flood. We've seen how weird Aether can make natural occurrances.

When you arrive at the city Cait Sith actually mentions something to do with how high the water was when he was last there. 'Flood' seems to be entirely the wrong word to describe the disaster. It sounds to me like it was actually a tsunami taller than the pyramid of Mhach... Not at all surprised something like that would wipe them out, technologically advanced or not.

I've got it! The Mhach didn't die they escaped into another dimension where time does not exist! Having enslaved Atomos to do their bidding they constructed Aetherytes to spread across Hydaelyn's past present and future; roughly at the beginning of each Astral Era. They're goal? to steal gil from adventures across the ages and obtain the ultimate victory through time compression. And of course; they are all Lala!

Meteor and Ozma, both examples of the ultimate in Time/Space magic. (woulda just said time magic but I dunno how common knowledge it is that Time Mage in japanese is closer to Time/Space)

And their leader is Rowena ! That explains how she always get to be at the "good place" for gils and how she knows about the look of antic stuff, she travels througt time thanks to Ozma !
    It all makes sense !

This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
