The problem isn't that most players have an unwillingness to do the harder content. The problem is accessibility to the harder content due to PF groups and real life time issues. A lot of people can't find a party at convenient times and even when one does pop up, the chances of it being a ground up learning group are pretty slim. You miss the train, you miss it all is the story of the game. Also, as a counter question: Why do you care that someone gets a 220 weapon relatively easily so they can meet PF group iLvL requirements? If someone is serious about doing hard end game content they should already have a 230 ilvl weapon anyway, so giving 220 to more time strapped players should not even be a problem.

well looks like some grind is needed to get the items for the 230 weapon, sadly its an mmo so grind is mandatory. and if you're stuck mid patch then its either work your ass off or stay casual till the next patch.

Well, my posting wasn't a venting of a personal anguish, just an observation in general about the game itself. The catch up patch should have had easier to get 220 weapons since the new primal EX drops 230. They might be hiding the need for the better weapon behind gear now having materia slots, but that is my only real thread to go on as to why they didn't give us 220 in the new weeping city or at least a weapon craft recipe.

the main weapon stats between 235/240/245 is only like 1 or 2.
so it's not gonna make a massive difference to your performance.
cos this was the patch where the upgrade items became mainstream so that might be why
