    Unable to Subscribe

I have 3 days left on my trial account. I'd like to subscribe. However, I can't... I enter my CC information and get an "Error 601" ... try again, "Error 601." Googling shows this to be widespread. My CC is fine. I live in the same country as my IP address. Was going to do a support chat but they're not open.

Seems kind of silly that they won't take my money :-| ... not getting a vote of confidence here and making me wonder if I should subscribe at all. I think there may be workarounds by buying 'crysta' or something, but I just want this to work; don't want to try and bypass it.

    Anyone have any advice here?

I had that problem last year and ended up not playing until HW came out. I tried purchasing crysta and it worked for me up until a few days ago when I encountered an extremely rare error i2501 which isn't anywhere in support and there are only two when you do a google search. My advice is to try purchasing crysta because SE doesn't really do anything about payment errors. You can also buy time cards instead. Try it after a few days though because repeated payment errors cause the system to automatically block any other payment actions from the account for more than 24 hours. Contact support on Monday, use the phone number instead of chat since their phone support guys are very good.

Youch. I made the mistake of digging deeper into the forums for people having this issue. Pages and pages going back 3 years. It sounds like I've locked myself out, would have to wait days or a month to try again... that support is going to just hang up on me, and my only alternative is to try to use "crysta" (whatever that is) and paypal. That's no going to happen.

So, I think game over for me :-( Good luck on your end, I'm going to try something else.

Just buy a vanilla visa per-paid card, register it online by typing in your zip code and buy Crysta. Works for me.

Thanks for the tip. I'm certain there is a way around this. But I'm not going to do that. If SE is unable to accept CC payments, but advertises that it can, it is on them to fix this, not on me to work around it. I'll quite literally quit the game before I work around the issue.

Update on this. I called my bank because I noticed 2, 1 dollar charges from SQUARE ENIX in pending status. Apparently this is normal that they "ping" the bank to get information. So the bank says there is not a problem. For whatever reason Square Enix has decided that they don't want my money :-(. I'm not a fraudster, really! I'm just a generic boring guy in the suburbs. Ugh... well I have a few days left on the free trial at least. I just don't understand why a company would make it so hard to pay them. It blows my mind... you'd think having a robust and working payment system would be top priority. I mean, I'm all for fraud detection... but seriously. Oh well.

update. i didn't attempt any payment for at least 24 hours and tried again a few minutes ago. it worked and i was able to use my 60-day time card. i'm guessing the i2501 error means the payment block has been in effect since i attempted payment unsuccessfully several times. I suggest buying a game time card instead and wait for more than 24 hours since your last attempt to try again.
