For me I stay solely for RP and my small RP group of friends. I've accepted no other game has a more stable and open RP environment as this one. That's my drive and reason for staying. I only touch the /game/ side of things when I absolutely have to for story progression. Other then that my time is spent in games that offer the game side of things I enjoy more.

Not complete every single thing released in 1 or 3 days and enjoy the content one at a time.

That's a great question. One that I ask myself everyday. Not because I'm fed up, frustrated, or anything like that. I've only been playing for four months! But rather because I have a ridiculous amount of anxiety, and I am emotionally unstable. The game triggers both of them, and makes it difficult to log on. So a big reason why I play is to face my own anxiety and emotional fears, and each time I log off, I see that all that fear is irrational. I just wish I could get it to stick.

I have goals in-game as well. I want to experience the MSQ. I want to group with other friendly players and help them in obtaining their own goals. I want to be a great healer someday and a completely self-sufficient crafter. I have my eyes on glamours, mounts, minions etc like everyone else as well, but I don't grind for others. I grind for me. I'm the one who has to look at my character each and every moment in the game, and it is up to me to create a great experience in-game involving that.

True, that eventually each of us will log out for the final time, and we can't take anything gained in those long hours with us when we do. But you can take the experiences, the memories, the screenshots, and downloaded tracks from the game. You'll hopefully be able to look back and remember how many smiles, frowns, tears of joy and sorrow have been brought to you by the magical world of Eorzea.

What's easy to you is difficult for others. I like joining random groups and helping (or carrying, if I have to) people through content that's difficult for them, so they can feel proud and accomplished when they beat it.

I used to always run things with my tight-knit group of veteran raid players, but I'm finding a lot of fun pugging these days since I quit raiding. Just did a Mhach where turds kept spamming vote abandon, but most people wanted to help the new players understand the fights and get the clear. That kinda stuff is fun for me these days. I still do stuff with my old raiding buddies, but unlike before, I don't do stuff ONLY with them, and the perspective it's given me has been eye-opening.

    Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.

Only if they should be getting a commendation.

    • Level sync, at least until level 50. I can run stuff without having to deal with overgeared players causing problems. I kinda wish WoW would've done this.

    • Crafting/gathering. Wow, you actually craft in this game. Plus, the gear levels and the levels required to craft them are fairly close together (in WoW you needed something like a level 100 crafting level just to make a level 10 item ), so crafting in this game is useful from the git-go.

So basically I came for the level sync, and stayed for the crafting. :]

Well, the gameplay is boring and repetitive, the dungeons are tedious, the world is too small to allow for any exploration, and the game overall is an irritating chore. The quests, more than anything else, are artificial and annoying; they're a complete joke. Up till 2 days ago, I was mostly playing to get cool-looking stuff from the Gold Saucer, but I got what I wanted from there. I'm stuck just before the end of the first arc of story quests because I just know the last couple of dungeons are going to be a tedious slog devoid of any fun whatsoever like the rest of the game so far.

So... why DO I still play? Um... well, I love my FC. And the graphics and music are very appealing, and the monster designs look great! I like getting stuff to decorate my FC room, and getting Minions, and doing Trials, which are great fun unlike the head-smashing dullness of the dungeons. I like the crafting, too, and the idea of collecting Glamours appeals to me, too. Lots to love, really. Just not the core that makes up 90+% of the game so far... Maybe it'll get fun when I hit Heavensward?

I feel you thread starter. I have ran my own static for 1 year and half and I've loved every moment we had together. Sadly our DRK quit the game and he been playing since beta. Hes a really good guy with tons of skills and fun to be with. His reason is because this patch isn't worth subbing 3 more month for, we have raided midas but haven't beaten m4 savage yet.

Our SMN left the raid too and taking a break from it because we went a bit slow on doing the raids within 2-2 months and half, which I agree, because this patch Id like to do my own stuff and catch up on classes I also wanna play and just do 1-4 midas in 1 day and that's it. We been held by some people in our group simply because their skill and not willing to improve made us slow down, which caused or may have caused the drk to leave the game as well. Me personaly, don't know what to do. I still want to raid but it's hard getting people and I have my own fc, but when I feel like I should quit I will do it and pass leader away to some one else.

Also we are on the same server!

What makes me still play are people who I call friends. My fc and other thigns. I like to chat and help people out. One day when I quit I will give away everything I own and never return. Last year on xmas, well right before, I gave away tons of items to strangers on moogle server (our server) and pulling people together felt good, because now people are friends together and know each other a bit more, which was my sole reason why I did it. It felt fanstastic and I'm willing to do it again.

After going back to WoW for a bit and a couple months testing Tree of Savior (not interested in Black Desert at all) I finally realised how good FF is, not even close to perfect, but at least it is much better than the boring dungeons from WoW where heirlooms trivialize absolutely every mechanic and boss till level 100. Hellfire Citadel is not that great. FF Glamour system is way better than WoW's transmog system.

Tree of Savior and probably other non triple A MMOs nowadays are full of bugs and unbalanced af. F2P also invites a ton of bots and spammers, meanwhile here I have not received not even 1 goldseller spam since 3.3.

I also missed Final Fantasy beautiful world and graphics, cool story and my character! The only thing that FF is REALLY lacking is PvP, really badly designed, although it is excusable IMO, I love PvP, but I just accepted that I can't have it here, nothing is perfect after all.

    Small simple reason.

I'm a fan of franchise and this game is a theme park of FF fan service
