    Reasons why I play.

The simple joy of FF really.

Getting new mounts, enjoying the story. Doing things in the GS. Crafting, Leveling other battle classes. Helping and teaching new players. So much to where you end up creating almost a side story for your main character with all the side stuff you do not pertaining to raiding or the MSQ.

Reason I wont spend time reading a book is because I have a short attention span while reading to where I will be reading and my mind will drift off while reading forgetting anything I have read.

Also playing a few other games outside of FFXIV helps balance. If FFXIV is all you play, then yea of course you are going to get burned out.

I play simply because I enjoy gaming and at this stage of my life, I have time to do so. Not really 1 specific aspect of ffxiv that is my reason for staying.

Will be different in a few years when rl things get very busy again (building a home ^^).
I don't play for endless hours by choice, wouldn't enjoy that tbh, a healthy mix of rl + gaming is my rule of thumb.
Dabbling in other games keeps gaming as a whole ,a bit more interesting for me. would never have just 1 active as none so far have it all (which is ok)

    1. If I want the #1 housing game, then I build gorgeous, cheap and extremely creative dimensions in Rift.
    2. Get the urge to collect mounts?..then off to wow I go to try and get to 300! ugh lol
    3. In the mood for 100% nostalgia?, no other will do but ffxi.
    4. Feel that need to look super sexy and have the most stunning looking character and gear?...then I hop into Tera ^^ .

FFXIV has a couple perks to me as well, or I simply would not be here, so all is good.

Oh well, this is kinda personal, but anyway...
I'm a horribly shy person. Everytime I'm around someone new, I get extremely scared and thus kinda awkward, 'cause I don't want to say anything that might be embarrassing - at least in my view. A few months ago I wouldn't talk to anyone I didn't know and isolate me from the rest of the world.

FFXIV helped me to overcome this constant fear of being "the awkward one". Not did I only make a lot of new friends, I also started to open up more ingame - and also in real life. Since I've been playing FFXIV I gained much more confidence with myself and with how I act.

So for me, this game is kind of a self-therapy-thing. I keep playing it because it helps me to focus (esp. when raiding), to learn to talk to different people and to actually feel good about what I'm doing.

i was kicked from a static, not FC. They asked me to join their FC, but i declined, cause i was already in one. I guess that's the reason anyway, but they previously said they would def keep me, cause they thought i was good...so the whole thing was just weird.

I've been playing since the 3rd phase of beta testing and the game keeps getting better and more refined and I know I don't have to rush through everything since the game will be supported for years to come.

However, what keeps me logging in everyday is not the content or drops to attain, I keep playing for and foremost because the friends I have made. Like many others we find a group that gets us and we make memories doing fun and stupid things, then we start bonding and talking about our life and just like going away to college you make friends from all over and are very interesting.

It's a escape from real life with other people they are trying to escape too. Hanging out, having fun, and maybe fighting a dragon or two together sometimes.
