I got a 30$ game I had been eyeing and it cost me 39$ CAD. Not a bad deal but careful which game you choose, some have duty fees and some don't. Like persona 5's duty fees were almost the same price as the game for me...I'm not sure Time Cards are an easy alternative for Canadians on Amazon.com because, if I remember correctly, they're considered digital games and those are tied to your account's location. Canadians can't download digital games on amazon.com because it simply won't let us. The same goes for e-books.
That said, there are ways to get around it and other options we can get shipped from amazon.com so it's still possible to participate.
