I know this last patch introduced gardening pots for use indoors. But by being one plot only, they don't allow crossbreeding. But the gardening system is heavily dependent on crossbreeding. That's really what the whole system revolves around. It's where nearly all the worthwhile gardening items come from.

If the goal were to help the upcoming apartments (or current private chambers) to serve as a substitute for a house by allowing gardening indoors, then this lack of crossbreeding kind of kills that plan. You can grow a few things in those pots, but you can't actually take part in the game's gardening system without getting a house with an outdoor garden.

My suggestion is to please add indoor rectangular planter boxes comprised of two gardening plots. That would be small enough to look suitable for an indoor space, and would be smaller than any of the outdoor gardens, but two plants together could intercross, thus opening up access to hybrids. That way a player with just an apartment could fully take part in gardening. It would be slower than doing so outdoors where gardens have 4, 6, or 8 plots (and more if you have multiple gardens). But you wouldn't be locked out of any of gardening's features, as will happen if only pots are available.

The more effectively apartments can fulfill the role of a house, the better they'll be at reducing the strain on the wards.
