Why did Raid Finder *replace* Lightkix Eyesfixed?

Previously with a full party prepared for raid, you assembled in the Hinterlands and the leader selected a menu from Lightkix Eyesfixed.
With the 3.3 changes, the gobbie interface takes you directly the Raid Finder menu, which has ilevel requirements built into it.

Because many raiders are using sets of melded crafted accessories, or other lower ilevel alternatives, full premade groups are effectively getting locked out of instances.

I was under the impression that Raid Finder was going to be an addition to the game, not a substitution for the interface that already existed.

It is entirely unnecessary to gate player ilevel in the CURRENT raid tier for premades.

My guess would be that it was not possible to implement an ilvl requirement for people finding groups via Raid Finder while not having one in place for premade parties. While not ideal, the workaround would be to fluff your ilvl and swap your gearset once you enter the instance.

Not anything particularly new, happened to all the top level raid tiers as soon as it hit the duty finder before. But yeah, I'm guessing it's just to facilitate the implementation of duty/raid finder.

Sorry for hijack, but does this mean that the 220 ilevel is enforced for Nidhogg EX, even in a premade? Was hoping to do some progression with friends, but at i217 (took a break for a while) I'm just short of the cut.

Nidhogg is a trial, not a raid. Raid finder only works for alexander midas for now.

For Trials, there has always been a min ilvl required to enter. The only time there was not an ilvl restriction was for current tier raids before they were placed onto the DF. In short, yes you will need to be i220 to enter Nidhogg EX. It shouldn't take you long though as you can get i230 gear via Lore and the upgrade items are available now as well. You can also replace anything that is i210 or below with i220 crafted or Midas Normal gear to boost your ilvl as well.

Bah, was hoping there wouldn't be restrictions for premades (not sure why there are, tbh...if groups want to try undergeared who cares lol), but I guess I'll have to pinch out those extra 3 ilevels when I'm back from vacation.

Midas normal loot is unlimited now (except the token for weapons)
    New dungeon gear is 215
Crafted 220's were cheap to make from the start
Can get a 230 piece this week from weeping city and an upgrade for a lore piece to 240
Spam hunts for those same upgrade pieces too

Should be pretty quick if you're already 217.

Right. The issue is it is particularly new.
We are in the middle of the current raid tier.
This happens when they add the previous raid tier to the duty finder when the new raid tier is released.
Because of the Raid Finder, which is in addition to the duty finder, it's locking players out of the current tier, whe n they were clearing it a week ago in lesser gear anyways.

The workaround for us was to go farm content for fast tomes and upgrade a piece of gear with lore that was immediately replaced in thje instance wit h the lower level piece anyways.
Other groups unfortunately did get locked out due to capped lore and unavailable upgrade options.

It's minor to most, but wholly unnecessary regardless.

I was referring more to the "guy at the entrance no longer just plops you into the fight after the confirmation window and now instead brings up the duty finder" aspect. Raid finder functions a lot like duty finder with a few extra whistles, that's why I'm not surprised that "duty finder savage" (raid finder) replaced the entrance person and made every party subject to that minimum ilvl requirement.

I honestly don't know of any groups running into trouble with the ilvl thing now with raid finder but I do remember it making things odd in final coil's t13 at the very least.
