    Help recoveringafter a destroyed computer

    My desktop died last night, trying to get a new one set up in time for my raid later tonight.

    I can't find my original FFXIV ARR installation media, but I have my Heavensward.
    I'm about to just buy a new ARR digital download and start installing/upgrading everything. Are there any gotchas I should watch out for?

    It sounds like it's too late now; but hopefully you've backed up your UI, Macros, Gearsets etc. using the FFXIV Backup Utility at some point in the past. Otherwise, you'll have to redo all of those from scratch since they are saved client-side. Just something to keep in mind since you want to raid later.

    Also you can re-download the original ARR anytime you want; it doesn't cost anything. Once it's done you just enter your username and password like normal since your product keys are already attached to your username. http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/playersdownload/na/

    You would need to copy your old FFXIV folder from the "My Documents\My Games" folder to restore the client side settings / hotbars / gearsets / saves.

    Luckily I email those to myself semi-regularly as a backup.

    Where could I have found the original ARR to download? I didn't see it anywhere referenced on the mog station/account details. I just spent the $20 to buy the digital download...

    Dropbox works nice as well. And the link Galactimus provided would be what your were looking for (the installer checks what to download for you, based on your account). Paid digital download links could be a bit faster though, on high speed connections.

    Ahh missed the link in his post. Thanks. Given how much I enjoy the game I won't begrudge SE an extra 20 from me for trying to get back online as fast as possible.

    Also if you make symbolic links with a drop box account every change is automatically uploaded. Works really well if you play on two different computers as well
