    Carbonweave Melding

Since I only had the blue i170 gear on a couple of classes, last night I crafted the green i170 Carbonweave set since it's cross class. Then I went to pentameld the Carbonweave pieces and...you can't. They are only allowed to hold 2 melds each.

So here's my question for you: With i170 belt/accessories, i170 carbonweave left side, i170 MH/OH...how do I meld this to reach 870/835 requirements for the i190 Ironworks set?

    You don't.

It might be possible with heavy grade V materia usage, but you'd end up spending a lot more than just getting the weaver specific set.

The carbon weave is probably more to help you hit the 2* min to make blue items and with a bit of help hit 3 star minimum on non-spec classes.

I know my stats barely changed when I went from penta 150 to carbon weave on my non specialist classes. But with melds they'd still go up.

The more important change I think is the 12 blue token MHs, though it really sucks that OH is still locked behind red scrips.

However, with aqua polis giving 170 mats like candy, those prices should plummet shortly.

here's my way. http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/UCZO this is the minimum.

i already had the pentamelded i170 class-specific hat and im getting my lack of craftsmanship from my tools. i think this is one of the cheapest ways to do it without making all of the class-specific stuff.

With my WVR I have the full Blue i170 set and the i170 MH/OH/Belt/Accessories. I just hadn't melded most of it yet. With the ability to trade in Red Crafters' Scrips for Tier 4 Crafting Materia, this might just be the perfect opportunity to pentameld the heck out of it. Of course, it'll only help make the i190 head/body/arms/legs...but still, it's progress.

Depending on if you've saved up red scrips (not the tokens), another option is to pick up one of the augmented i200 MH tools after tonight's maintenance. That should boost your stats to easily hit the minimum requirement for the Ironworks gear.

Will there be enough tokens from just tomorrow to already upgrade?

It takes 13 Goblin Cups to upgrade 1 MH tool from i180 to i200. Goblin Cups are bought at 50 red scrips each. If you've saved up at least 200 red scrips from before tonight's maintenance, you'll have enough to buy 13 Cups when capping scrips after the reset.

Ok doing it with melds and Carbonweave is totally do able.

    http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/UE7Y

That's how I did it, it puts you at Craft: 875 and Control: 836, the only problem is you have to have both the FC buffs up at the same. Depending on your FC this may, or may not, be an issue.
If your wondering why I have Hallowed Chestnut and Dragon Fang, rather than proper i170 in my choices, it's cause I was being cheap and didn't want to re-meld a whole new set of Acc.
