It'll be fixed when DoT damage is shown in the combat log... *snicker*
omg they still havent fixed this i read somewhere they understood and it would get done i thought it was fixed with this new 24 man raid omg

Speaking of DoTs, while doing the new 24 man raid as SMN, I used Fester while only BioII and Bio were up(Kept casting Miasma but for the hell of it, it wouldn't apply) 3k+ damage.... Hmmmmm
Thats weird, with 2 dots it should be only doing about 2k damage. So my dots fall off due to mechanics and I reapply them. Only Bio is now ticking and applied. Fester - 3k+ damage...?
Only the first 20(I think) show under the boss' hp bar. The hard cap is 60, but you can't see all 60 at one time. So while you could see Bio 2 and1 but not miasma is because miasma was in the lower half of the debuffs in the median area where you can't see it, but is still ticking on them.Speaking of DoTs, while doing the new 24 man raid as SMN, I used Fester while only BioII and Bio were up(Kept casting Miasma but for the hell of it, it wouldn't apply) 3k+ damage.... It's 30. The first 30 DoTs show underneath the bar, and if your debuffs are in the first 30 they will be at the beginning of the list. Everything tagged as 31 - 60 will NOT show up, even if you refresh it. If your DoT is tagged as 31, and you keep refreshing it before the timer runs out despite spot 30 being open, it will remain in the slot 31 area. It's really obnoxious. Of course, there's also the fact that as a SMN if too many debuffs are up you can literally lose nearly all of your potency because your DoTs simply won't apply =/Only the first 20(I think) show under the boss' hp bar. This is a problem that's been around for far too long, please address it.
A simple fix to this is make your personal debuffs appear larger on the enemy status bar or make them glow. A lot of games with large group content do this.
We already do =) Just don't complain when your debuff gets overwritten because of another NIN or a WAR.
When OTing (which I prefer to do), I tend to switch between Storm's Path and Storm's Eye, ensuring both are up. Especially if there's a NIN in the party. The only times I don't is if there's a tankswap so I have to MT for a while, or if I'm needed to hold adds. Of course, if I notice that my debuff gets overwritten every single time, I'll keep an eye on that and only apply my debuff if the NIN one looks like it's going to wear off (1-3 seconds left), otherwise switching out that combo for my Butcher's Block combo.
To return to the topic...
That wouldn't really help the issue, though. There's already a similar measure that's called "make your debuffs and dots come first in the debuff list". It doesn't apply when there are 30 debuffs already in the list, because yours wouldn't be on that visible list anyway. (In other words, it wouldn't be larger or glow either, since it's not there.) And if there are 60 debuffs/dots, your debuff or dot still wouldn't even take effect.
Making jobs rely on dots, and then putting in a cap on the maximum number of dots on one enemy... is kind of mean =/ or shortsighted, if you prefer. It's a bit similar to the whole, "We've implemented this amazing new feature that requires you to have a house, but we're certainly not going to implement enough houses for even all FCs to have one =D" issue. Only here it's, "We've boosted the potency of your dots now, so you'll do more damage... but chances are they won't even apply anyway if you have too many other dotters involved in the fight =D"

Alright, you axe wielders, do as you please, do your own things, and I'll do mine.
