People who run mentor roulette 5-10 times a day are those grinding for the mount, not people casually helping new people.
You are complaining more because you see something you want is out of your reach, and you are not willing to do the work to get it. You are playing a being indignant in order to justify your belief that SE should change things to fulfill your desires.
You want the pony but are unwilling to step up to the challenge set to get it. Astrope, the 2 seater Pegasus, was not designed for you but you still want it.

Also those dedicated enough to queue 5 to 10 times per day are those dedicate enough to increasing their ability to clear content which means they will learn how to better teach the various fights. The bad mentors will make things harder for themselves while the good mentors will make things easier.

Also, their aim is not to discourage anyone from mentoring, they're trying to attract more people. If anything, they're discouraging casual helpers by promoting such aggressive behavior from collectors. It should not be a mentor reward.
No, its to reward repeated daily queuing of the mentor roulette in order to get experienced people in to duties that are not being queued for like the EX primals. If they wanted more people to queue they would only need to increase the daily tombstone rewards. Instead the achievement rewards are designed to get people to queue more times per day.

It seems like whoever set this requirement on the dev. team and a few forum posters don't realize the difference. Dedicating anywhere from 1-2 hours per day for potentially over 200 days isn't reasonable for one item, unless you leave and breathe FFXIV. Considering the development team do likely live and breathe FFXIV, they can't seem to grasp that their players may want to do things outside of FFXIV, or even play other games (gasp).

Of course I want it, I've admitted that in one of my first posts, however, that is not the reasoning of my complaint. I want many things that are out of my reach, specifically, PVP rewards, (the mounts, the titles and glamour pieces.) Im not complaining to have "SE change things to fulfill your(my) desires." I'm complaining because they put an insane goal tagged onto content Yoshi specifically said himself he didn't want too do. If I was complaining just because it was out of my reach, I would also be complaining and pvp rewards, the relic rewards (as I only have time to do 2, and not all of those pretty weapons). But you see, those are within reach of those who desire that particular item, though it IS a long term, (a reasonable one) goal. I knew someons would try to twist my words so that it appears that it was fully just my greed. I do want the mount, and as do many others, but all they're doing is promoting a grind fest for those collectors who have more time on their hands and don't care about the mentor system.

More people would do content for a mount, (or minion) than they would the tomestone rewards, I don't understand why you'd think someone would value tomestone over a mount. Of course a mount would draw people in, and yes, it WILL attract determined people to grind for the mount. You say that those who stick to the mentoring system by staying in EX runs with new people will get the mount faster than those who drop out, however, dropping out only has a 30 minute penalty. In their eyes, it's better to drop out at the start of an EX (which they will) than to spend 60+ minutes trying to help out new people only for a chance to fail at the instance, which is what mentoring is supposed to be. Running a roulette 5-10 times, EVERY DAY, will tire out someone who legit wants to help, but those who are purely grinding for the mount will continue on until they get it, then never again. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, mounts should NOT be in mentor roulette, it only promotes bad behavior. Hell, I wouldn't even complain (on the thread to SE anyway) if it was out with that new pvp map or whatever it is for 100-200 wins.

queuing 5-10 times a day is "easy"? , 1 mentor DR can take 10 min or 1h30m.... if u do 5-10 usually a mix of both so lets say 3h~ ....everyday? because thats insane...and a fast way to burnout legit mentors that probably wont want to play FFXIV, ever again.

plus u can be the best "MENTOR" ever , but if the sprouts doesnt care about your advice...or want to learn w/o explanations? (im one of those but on new patch content , old content i can understand that no1 wants to wipe to 2 years old content that has been killed thousand of times)

Here's hoping the threat of having mentor status revoked for being a jerk at 1900/2000 progress actually makes the mean mentors nicer. =)

2000 is just absolutely absurd. Didn't yoshi say that he didn't want to lock items behind doing mentor roulette so that people who stayed were people who actually enjoyed helping people? Yet now there's incentives for people who care only for the mount and not helping people. As if the mentor status wasn't in a sad enough place as it was.

Just because a mount or any item exists doesn't mean it should be within arm's reach. Please stop with the entitlement.

I don't believe this mount, or any mount, has a place as a Mentor Roulette reward.

I am a Mentor and I've been doing my roulette almost everyday since it came out. I like the titles I can earn, I think those are pretty cool. I don't want a big thank you for doing these roulettes, I find the thanks I get from other players is worth the effort. That's why I queue everyday and why I try my best no matter the run.

Since the patch hit, I have already seen "mentors" try to spam the roulette on unpopular languages in hopes of getting their friends and speed running the content. I have seen "mentors" kick new players from pre level 30 dungeons for not pulling enough, not pulling fast enough, not DPSing hard enough, and asking too many questions. When asking these people why, they simply respond:

"I'm only after the mount. I don't care."

I know there are people who are only mentors for the crown. Let them have it. But I don't believe they should actively be encouraged to partake in the Roulette if they have no interest in helping people. I would much rather do 2,000 runs for a title I'll probably never use, than watch another "mentor" queue for the roulette and harass a greenie just because they are "only after the mount".

You have to keep in mind that this is only the mentor roulette. I'm not even a mentor and I'm not interested in the mount, but adding 10r/d or 5r/d on top of your daily Expert, 60, 50, Leveling, Trials, Mainstory, Guildhest and Frontline roulettes is insane. Is basically taking the "Mentor System" to a point it becomes a job, and that should never be the point of it.

It was a huge mistake putting rewards on the Mentor System in the first place. People that like to help do it without expecting anything in return. I don't even like the comendation system because everyone seems to just comm the healer and the tank on automatic mode, so even if this mount was a comm thing it would take even more time (if that day ever came) for non healers/tanks to put their hands on it.

    Weird move from SE.

I agree with Selli that this needs to be removed from the Mentor Roullettes and placed elsewhere.
The negative impact of having a reward such as this on content designed to help new players succeed is going to drive new folks away from the game and/or breed more animosity against new players.

    ------------
On an unrelated note to the poster above, it is not "being entitled" to ask for something to be adjusted to be fair and reasonable. It is entitlement to expect it to be handed to you without putting in any effort.
