How much is out new gathering gear (in 3.3) going to cost us?

For those of us who main as Gatherers and not crafters,
it seems it will be a very expensive proposition to have crafted gathering gear.

I am already afraid of the cost, trying to save up as much as I can.


I hate the idea of crafted gathering gear, it puts our fate in their hands.
Unless you also are a crafter, you will be paying millions upon millions for this gear.


I was wondering how much you guys speculate the gear is going to sell for.
On my server I am assuming for now a full left side will cost roughly 50 million.

Is that in the range of your expectations?

If I'm right, it'll need an ehcatl-like sealant, so the price should be something like that for the first month or maybe a bit more.

For the first 2-3 weeks you can probably expect each left side piece to be over 20M. From about 4-6 weeks it'll have dropped around 50% and after 6 weeks it'll probably stabilize around 5-10M per piece depending on your server markets. I'm not even going to bother buying them for the first month.

Im expecting myself to gather new(hopefully) nodes n mats needed for the new gear n slaving a crafter friend to make it for me. I will not spend all of my gil on this. I will get it slowly if need be if i need it at all.

And I have an army of sla-... Friend for the remaining specialist

Like Hermaus said I expect a specific component hard to have.
Either from mog new trib or from the aquapolis dragon-skin map

So yeah price might be high
I would advise starting to network à bunch of Crafter/gatherer to help each other

What's worse: the gear is likely to be locked behind specialist recipes, which means that you will literally be incapable of self-sufficiency.

Maybe it's not as much of a problem on Japanese servers or something - maybe people are much more willing to help each other out in gearing, and are willing to make gear for one another, but I've yet to find a circle of gatherers and crafters out there willing to scratch each others' backs on NA servers.

I play on a Japanese server and I know that a lot of people will craft gear completely for free if you have the mats. I sometimes see people in Party Finder offering to pay gil to someone if they craft something for them, but I will craft for free if someone has mats and I'm not doing anything else at the time.
And I've had friends and FC members craft things for me for free.

Actually, when I first joined the server someone friended me and crafted all my gear (HQ) until level 30 or something and I never even asked them! They just sent it to me in the mail! And they asked for nothing in return.
I felt so bad and immensely in their debt, I decided to raise all my crafts to 60 so I can help other people the way I was helped.

I once asked another friend to craft something for me, but he DCed while crafting and lost all the mats. (It was a 3 star level 60 recipe). He offered to replace all the mats and craft the item again! I am greatly in his debt for his kindness!

Who knows? But I am all BIS currently so hopefully I have some insulation built in.

And whatever it costs, if I want to devote 2 - 3 RT hours to a heavy gathering rotation and swig down Cordials like lemonade that's 3 - 5m without playing favors.

I'm not spending 40+ mil on gear. Might wait a month till the prices drop.
