What's the gear up path now? Your opinion?

I came back today from over a month break and I'm kind of lost as to where to go. I come from Tera, where the patch notes clearly state 'x dungeon drops Tier y gear', and this is the first time I'm experiencing a FF14 patch from the start while actually being at endgame (started this game like 2 weeks before 3.2).
So what's the current gear up? I left in a combo of 210, 220 midan and some 230 gear.
I'm close to 1k lore's and have my 7 gears, but am wondering whether I should use them for my 60 DRG's weapon, or wait till my BRD is 60 (35 now) cause even before buffs I really looked forward to getting BRD to 60 as it seems like one of those classes that can really add some boost to the overall group/raid/alliance deeps output.
So without new tomestones, what should i farm to get new gear/upgrade current gear?
And how is Midas savage difficulty now? And how viable is its gear (can it be upgraded to match new patch standards?)

    Hi there!

Assuming you can't raid Savage (which is the quickest way to boost your iLvl), the fastest way to gear up from where you are is going to be farming to max out your Lore gear and to augment it with drops from Weeping City of Mhach. Work towards the 230 relic, and see if you can get into a Nidhogg Ex group to farm for your 235 weapon.

    Midas Savage gear is 240.
Augmented Lore gear is 240 (or did they not do that this time around?).
    Nidhogg Ex weapons are 235.
    Lore gear is 230.
Weeping City of Mhach gear is 230.
    Sephirot Ex weapons are 225.
    Crafted gear is 220.
    Midas Normal gear is 220.
Ex Roulette gear is 215 (if the pattern has held).
    Thordan Ex weapons are 215.

And everything lower is from the Gordias tier.

As a future reference for you, odd numbered patches are considered "catch-up" patches (2.1, 2.3, 2.5, 3.1, 3.3, 3.5) while even numbered patches are when they actually raise the item level and new BiS paths become available. As such, the BiS is still the same and Midan gear and Augmented Lore gear is still the top tier.

It's a catch-up patch because you can now upgrade your Lore gear to 240 without having to go into Midas by completing the 24 man raids. You get one drop from Void Ark and one drop from Weeping City of Mhach (limit 1 per week) which you can trade in for the upgrade items to increase your 240 gear. You can also get these upgrade items now from hunts for 500 Centurio Seals per Unstained book. It takes 4 Unstained books to upgrade accessories and 6 to upgrade left side. Weeping CIty of Mhach now also drops 230 gear which you can receive one of per week and the new Nidhogg Extreme drops 235 weapons to help you on your path to clearing Savage. For you specifically, basically just try to get everything up to 230 first, and then try to get it to 240.

So... the actual upgrade destination is still the same there are just more options to get you there since it's an odd patch. 3.4 is when you'll really need this question.

To answer your other questions, Midas Savage is still difficult and the vast majority of the playerbase has no chance of clearing it.

Thanks! but basically if i already have my 230 lore chest and legs, there's a chance it's still the 2nd BiS? Considering they didn't do augmented lore gear because there are no new tome stones...
Anyone else able to shed some light on this dilemma?

Augmented Lore Gear has been in the game since 3.2 and is the BiS over Midas gear in some slots based off of secondaries. You need Illuminati Gobtwine (left side) or Illuminati Gobdip (right side) to upgrade your lore gear to 240 Augmented gear. These drops used to be specific to Midas savage floors 6, 7, and 8 but as of the new patch you can get them through other means like hunting or the 24 man raids.

This site can help you figure out your BiS for whatever job you're looking at: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/

Just pick the job from the drop down in the upper left corner and have an idea of what secondaries you want to try to maximize. For both DRG and BRD I'm pretty sure that you will prioritize Accuracy (up to the accuracy cap of the highest Midas Savage tier) followed by Crit then either Det or Skill Speed depending on how you want to gear. However, I don't play either job so take that with a grain of salt, there are plenty of references out there that will help you figure out optimal gearing strats for your job.
