It's less to do with being rare and more to do with being a gil sink I think but I agree with it being very annoying. Not as annoying as not letting people convert their personal houses into FC ones though if that character makes their own FC. Having to relinquish, a lot of things getting also destroyed and then hoping you can manage to re-buy and rebuild as FC one before being snatched up by someone else.

What may be intentional might not be what the players want. And Square enix isn't going to shove it down our throats if we are unhappy with it. They tend to change things to make us happy. While it makes sense to not return permanent fixtures such as floors, walls, lights, and perishables like food, it doesn't explain why an armoire....a piece of crafted furniture is destroyed when it is removed. They can certainly make the change for some of these to be retrievable.

Either you make these threads because you legitimately don't know anything in this game or you are such a troll its not even funny. For someone who has been playing since 2014 you sure do have a lot of questions to things that are topics that already turn into heated debates.

Pretty sure he purposely makes threads asking a question he already knows the answer to.

This feature has little to do with gil sinks. Gil sinks require gil to be destroyed, and gil isn't destroyed in the purchase of most of these items.

Also, the converting of a personal house into an FC house would allow the direct transfer of a house from one player to others. This is an undesirable possibility.

People can do that anyways even if costs them bit more time and gil. Make an alt, make an FC on that alt, level that FC to rank 6 and invite someone else to it then that person invites your other character, relinquish the personal one on main and have the alt buy it as FC one. The difference is time and cost...but it is possible.

I personally think it would be better to streamline that process and just allow the personal house owner to convert to FC house if they make an FC on that character. That newly formed FC may or may not just have between 1-4 people in which is the case for personal housing anyways or may invite others and become a proper FC with hundreds of people in but it isn't like there will be more houses freed up for other people's FC's if don't streamline the process since if cannot/does not convert to FC house through either one of those methods mentioned above then they will still keep the house as personal.

It's different. One is already a FC house. The FC purchased and owns the house. You can't transfer it to another FC. You could change the members of the FC, but it's still the same FC that owns it in terms of game mechanics.

A personal house is owned by a player, and converting it into an FC house would allow you to transfer it to an FC.

Being bound to you so you can't trade them to anyone else keeps them rare.

All that being destroyed on removal accomplishes is make them less desirable. It makes the item not worth placing at all unless you're absolutely certain it's something you're going to want ALL the time and never remove it. And if you do still place it anyway, then it makes all other housing items less desirable, because it limits your ability to periodically re-decorate.

It's mostly the primal furniture that gets destroyed if you remove it. Also any food items, fixtures, the mchachi coffin and the armoire... There's probably a few others. It does tell you in the item description.

The 'destroy on pickup' furnishings are really annoying but I do also understand why they exist. They serve as an artificial means of increasing rarity and give people reason to run old content to reacquire the trophies for such items if they ever lose them. SE is obsessed with giving people reasons to continue running content and this is why all the furnishing obtained from trials and raids are 'destroy on pickup'. Trouble is this actually just leaves most people feeling forced to keep items permanently on display in their house and severely limits you when you want to redecorate.
