How you chose your healing job.

Been wondering something. When you picked one of the healing jobs to main, or play a lot, what made you decide it? Lore/look? Or its gameplay? This is probably a stupid question but i'm gonna ask anyway.

Like, I picked AST because of its unique way of doing things. Not the easiest job to heal and the RNG kind of rules over you, but that's what made it fun for me. Knowing how to work with the healing and the many different ways of buffing your party made me stick with it the most out of the 3.

I'm not at level cap yet, but I'm gonna stick with WHM. I always play a healer in MMOs, and people had good things to say about WHM, so I decided to just stick with it.
Glad that I did; it's a lot of fun so far.

White Mage! I've been a fan of WHM from other FF series. Also i do tend to favor those reactive heals. I am like a reactive player, "you got hurt, let me patch you up." Plus I so like the sound of "White magic." I also play the SCH and in my opinion they are more on mitigating the damage before it happens and I haven't developed that skill yet, seeing an incoming damage and deciding when to shield (adlo / succor). I think im sticking to WHM for this time.

Chose AST after leveling all three...SCH I'm just not good enough to push some really good numbers and heal lol

WHM is okay but got a little boring after a while

AST is just fun and has decent dps

Pretty much the opposite for me. I was never a good whm, but AM a good SCH. But now that i'm leveling AST, i'm thinking i like it alot... not sure if it beats out SCH yet, but it's funner and i'm better with it then i am a Whm.

At first, I thought Archery was pretty cool but I kept dying in solo content so I opted to obtain a few Conjury abilities and I just ended up falling in love with the playstyle of the job. How I chose it? Besides that cross-class skill Cure, I really just liked the nostalgia surrounding the white mage class as well as the new lore presented in FFXIV. I could never get into SCH as it seemed a tad too complicated to learn; I've already got most of what I need to know as a WHM, no need to add anything else to it.

I mained a disc priest in WoW for uh... many years so the mitigation + dps of Scholar is what comes naturally to me.

I chose Scholar because I wanted to play a tactician type of healer, with mitigation debuffs, as well as fields of defense, sorta like Ace Guard in Yggdra Union.

Unfortunately, what I got instead was a healing wannabe DPS that deals more damage then I feel it actually should, but healing has devolved from doing your best to DPSing all the time and screaming at the tank for dying despite using CD's, so it all works out I guess.

I've always been a huge proponent of preventative/mitigation healing, so I do prefer the Scholar playstyle. It is very DPS intensive, but you can never say you're bored.

I ended up switching to AST when the expansion hit because I named my character after a star, so it was worth giving it a shot (plus, books actually are one of the least visually appealing weapons in the game).

It took a long time to balance AST with the other healers, but I like the party-oriented play and the added difficulty of handling different party compositions that AST thrives on. Also, instant, mobile heals are still king for most raids, trials, and pvp content.

Took WHM because I loved it's AF1 gear. Then did SCH because I felt like it was the ideal healer ability-wise, but managing every ability on crossbars with a controller was too much work to sort out (I refuse to overlook any abilities or be unable to micromanage my pet). These were my secondaries while I mained PLD.

When 3.0 was released, I really liked the challenge of Astrologian, having lower healing potencies and all on it's release. I decided to main it, and now I love it because after so many buffs by SE it feels pretty OP, like I can suit any circumstance and never have to panic for MP, often able to carry parties. Sort of ironic.
