I'm already focusing on doing the Class and Main Story Quests (I did some city quests to get to level to get out into the field), so that should cover the + and class qeusts you talked about.

    - What is the 'daily leveling roulette'?
    - I'm assuming by 'do extra runs' you mean spam queue some dungeons and tank them for practice and experience?

Remember, I don't know any of the lingo or the systems in game. I'm still a complete nub to the game; I just don't want to mess up and be stuck suffering bad choices later.

Daily leveling roulette - do a random dungeon and get an extra bonus at the end. Bonus can be obtained once per day. Requires that you have unlocked at least two dungeons. (You might not have done that yet.)
Extra runs - you pretty much got it.

As said by the previous post you'll want to level both eventually for access to the cross class abilities but personally I'd start with the MRD if you want WAR and once at 30 lvl a PLG to 15 to unlock the WAR job. Worry about the gladiator later, just make sure you learn the MRD/WAR well.
Actually, if one is going to tank it is a very good idea to get Gladiator up to level 22 for the Provoke cross-class skill. That one is very useful for any tank.

I agree but as a totally fresh player that probably want to enjoy the story he should focus on his main class and worry about GLD later, ot wont take long to unlock provoke but it can be a bit boring as a new player to continuously level lower level classes and not feel like you're progressing.

i am doing the same thing in trying to do everything, every class, every quest and class achievement. i have quit the game a couple times trying so. right now i have all the dow and dom jobs to atleast 30 ranging in levels of 60-30. the idea of tanks and healers..i started with summoner and did the main story with that job. then i went back and unlocked every dungeon and raid minus current Heavenward content. So in return when i took a healer or tank through to max, i could just que up in dutyfinder for anything and it wouldnt be the same dungeon everytime.

for dps classes..just been running fates if i see a group in the area and side quests. i am running out of quests and its only netted me one job to level. After that it will be fates and dungeons because there isnt enough logs to max you out quickly enough.

By far the fastest way to level (as well as the best for learning to play your class and then job well) is by running dungeons. As a tank you'll also have the advantage that you can get into dungeon runs a lot faster than damage dealers and usually a bit faster than healers, because it's usually the role that's most in demand.

If you're planning on advancing all the jobs at some point, one thing you might consider is doing quests (both the main story and whichever sidequests you want) on a damage dealer class/job, but do the dungeon run parts on your tank. That puts the quest completion XP on one of the classes that's slower to advance with dungeons simply because it takes longer to get into groups for the dungeon run.

(You should still do some dungeon runs on your DPS jobs as well. It's a necessary part of learning to play them well. But on those occasions you may have a wait to get started. When you're not doing it specifically to get practice at grouping with your damage dealer class/job, going in as a tank instead gets you into and therefore through a dungeon quicker.)

I agree with the others about leaving the leves behind. You will need those allowances to power level your gatherers and crafters. Even if you don't have any intentions of leveling DoL/DoH bear in mind many omni crafters didn't intend on being so either at first. Only if your allowances are maxed would I do battlecraft leves.

On a side note, something to consider about battlecraft leves is the coffers can sometimes give aetherial versions of gear. Very, very useful.

Surprising amount of misinformation in this thread.

    Here is my suggestion:

    Classes:
    Gladiator - lvl 22
    -- Cross class skills:
    -- Flash
    -- Convolesence
    -- Provoke

    Pugilist - lvl 12
    -- Cross class skills:
    -- Second Wind
    -- Internal Release
(( Mantra later in game is nice but needs Pugilist to 42 ))

    Marauder - lvl 30
(You need 30 MRD and 15 GLR to unlock the Warrior job)

    LEVELING!!!!!!!
Just do the quests that you come across, the occasional Fate if it's in your path, and the daily roulette's along with the main and class quests and you will level up just fine. Dont worry about leve's they are dull and pretty low xp. Don't forget to unlock you bird-horse and the combat version as soon as you can. As a WAR I find the healer bird best as I can already put out enough DPS.

Hope that helps you, welcome back!
