    Difficulty spike?

The past few updates to the mainstory line have been a pleasure to play through. A touch easy but the story line isn't meant to be equal to your savage raids. Yet with this final battle of the main story quest in 3.3. I can't help but think the devs screwed up on the numbers. The boss is doing way too much damage, way to often that healers can't keep up. I could understand if this was the extreme mode...but this is just to finish the msq...where casual players whom are decently geared (ilvl 229 in my case) are having a lot of trouble. It isn't the mechanics of the fight...it's the outcome of it. Unfortunately not every one has a raid talk group to call things out, some people have to rely on pugging...tbc

That's seven complete strangers who may or may not be better equipped, better players, and generally super human behind the keys or controller...I've tried for seven hours to do to get a single clear on the final steps of faith with not a single run dropping the boss below 50%. They we'll try my five attempts at weeping city..which whatever, it's fine that it's challenging as a raid..but when you look at the last installment. void ark was cake walk in comparison.

So really, the point of this rant is a plea to please lower the amount of damage on the normal version of the final steps of faith. I just want to clear the story line. I'm not here to run savages and extremes where the toxic players make up the roster....and the constant dying is making more than a few reasonable and good players I know becoming toxic and agitated because our goal is the same....but unable to be attained by those who are not super-star players.

It's the final boss. Should be hard IMO. The rest of the game is faceroll/netflix easy. You gotta be proactive and not reactive for that fight. Start healing right before you start taking dmg so the the heal goes off nearly immediately after taking dmg, then just spam your heals. Use everything in your kit to survive: strong self buffs, emergency heals, those Sacred Soil, etc.

Yep can't have the grand finale be completely Faceroll.

Players just need to git gud.

Niddhog is perfect as he is now.

I am casual as casual can be.
Got into a group where one DPS left after 2 wipes.

We did the next wipe like 20 seconds into the fight and then beat the hell out of him.
We all wanted it, we all did not want to abandon, the healers did a wonderful job trying to keep everyone up. If someone died - res. No mana left? Let the Bard sing

It was hard at first look, but it is absolutely possible, even as casual, if you find a group, that really wants to do it.

I would not want it any easier.

I liked the fight. First time doing dungeons where I was actually caught up enough to do them, so I was able to do blind runs on both.
We wiped 5 times and even then, we didn't give up and I think nidhogg is good the way he is, we needed something challaging for once. We needed a normal trial to actually punish you for standing in an aoe, and I feel the fight was well made. Maybe I just got lucky and got a group that was willing to learn and listen.

I don't think it would be appropriate if the fight were any easier. My group wiped on it once, then we got through it the second try no problem (I was i213, for reference). The mechanics require attention but aren't unfairly difficult. Requiring attention is the main thing here - the content from the last patch (Void Ark in particular) was just way undertuned, to the point that it was faceroll from day 1, first try. Final Steps and Weeping City are both incredibly fun and suitably challenging instances, in my opinion.

Yeah..good for all of you bragging...however spending hours putting out 1,8k dps on a ninja..I wouldn't ever dare heal this garbage fight. And still no clear. a.) they need to give echo like they do for every fight trial that is mandatory to the story line. B.) I'm seeing a lot of people coming in at barely over 200 ilvl and they get stomped at the second deafening bellow. I'm generally in the top 3 on the agro list and it's not till the dps check adds that I die with the rest of the party. When it comes to having to trust other people to play their roles right it isn't fair to be that punishing on a dps check. I don't care what the elites of our community say. The dps check needs nerfed at the very least. Or the echo needs applied for parties who stick it out till they run out of time. >

Before any one says 'don't want it to be a faceroll' again. I'm not asking for a faceroll. I'm asking for a fight that is properly listed. As it is now, the low entry of ilvl 205 is misleading af and it's screwing up parties.

Consider the dungeon right before the fight, it's listed at ilvl200 and it was facerolled big deal, story line dungeon right? But then you go and fight in the trial and the difference between avg ilvl 200 and 205 is clearly a typo. They were definitely meaning 225 avg minlevel. Let the elites keep their savages and extremes as they are, but cut some slack on the msq. Not a lot...just some...or at least label it properly so people with ilvl205-206 can't get in.
