That only works after Haukke for Adloquium, and Selene's recharge means any fight with multiple spaced out statuses have some that just slip past. Also, there's an entire guildhest based around statuses and esuna that SCH kinda get shafted on.Cleanse isn't a big deal lower level, a SCH has Adlo out of the gate and can just simply Adlo which the poison will end up eating the shield. Most don't do that or really understand how shielding works as "more effective HP" early on in their SCH career. Plus now they have Selene cleanse at earlier level. It was never a problem, and still isn't one.

This reminds me of the WoW debate and BLIZZ gave each tank an insane THREAT buff*. Tanking at low levels is a challenge for GLAD, but why not accept the challenge? Why stop at low level tanking? Why not give healers a healing stance buff up to 50? Melee dps can get a buff for standing behind the mob and ignore mechanics up to 50 too.

Vendor gear is complete trash. NQ stuff is considerably weaker than HQ stuff.
IMO gear progression for a new tank from 15-50 should look something like this
Brand-New/Plundered -> Grand Company stuff/Haukke aetherial pieces -> Cavalry -> More Grand Company stuff & any Qarn/Cutter's aetherial pieces you get along the way -> Sentinel/HQ High Mythril/More Grand Company stuff/Dzemael & Aurum aetherial pieces/i50 stuff from job quests -> i90 stuff you get from job quests -> Ironworks

"Worse than" doesn't necessarily mean "trash". NQ stuff works just fine as long as it's actually meant for your class. You mainly just want to have a decent amount of HP and a level appropriate weapon, then you're set.
It is trash considering how HQ/Green/Blue alternatives are considerably better and not much more difficult to get. (In some cases they're actually easier to get)
The sooner new players learn about the discrepancies between HQ and NQ stuff in this game, the better off they are. The discrepancies grow as you progress up the levels.

Actually, technically speaking... the discrepancy shrinks as one levels up. From 1-50 a NQ item will have 80% of the stats of its HQ version but from 50-60(or, more specifically, any recipe added by Heavensward) a NQ item will have 90%.It is trash considering how HQ/Green/Blue alternatives are considerably better and not much more difficult to get. I recently made a 2nd WAR, and yes when you get into a dungeon with multiple lv60's who have all the best cross class CDs available and are 100% stat caped and your not even in the best gear for your level it can kinda be a pain (brd is the biggest issue in this department, and always has been in low levels, lot of oGCD and good dmg cooldowns and people play them at low level like high level which does not always work out well).
The only change to tank stances that needs to happen is PLD need sword and shield oath levels swapped. below lv30, there is no dungeon that even needs a tank, and the struggle with not having tank stance makes you learn how to truly build threat. The issue is, starting with brayflox, you should have a tank (can be done w/o with skilled vet players) and when PLD cant keep up in these levels things go bad fast.
I would switch Shield Oath and Cover order. SO at 35, Cover at 40.
I agree with this thread. I've been a Paladin since the launch of the game. Mastered the art of Tanking long ago. Completed all savage content while it's current. Holding hate? Piece of cake!
Enter yesterday, where leveling roulette threw me into the {Thousand Maws of Toto-rak}. I began my journey into these halls with a Dragoon and a Machinist as my comrades. With the dungeon memorized, my gear at i240, and my HQ Vitality Potions and Food fully loaded; this party could not have received a more prepared Tank. Let me tell you.. holding hate was an absolute nightmare.
The first 10 seconds of every fight? Welcome to the wonderful world of Machinist tanking. It doesn't matter if you Fight or Flight a Shield Lob, Flash, or Provoke. Not until your Halone combo finishes are you finally able to keep up with their enmity generation and OGCD's. And even then, sometimes they are able to pull it right back before your second Halone combo finishes. Dragoon attacking an unmarked mob? Time to pick which mob you want to tank. Once that first mob dies things start becoming controllable.
While leveling in 2.0 I don't recall a single time where holding hate was difficult as long as your weapon was up-to-date. Now that this content is level syncing and stat capping i230+ players, it's clear the enmity generation algorithm isn't doing Tanks any favors at low levels. These level capped DPS in Toto-Rak were generating 10x more enmity (enmity gauge percentage wise) then i240 DPS in Alexander Savage. I shudder to think about what new tanks are putting up with.

Spam dungeons on GLD til 34 and then start the real tank quest.
