L1+Start takes a screenshot. Can this be disabled?

I would kill for a button combination on ps4 to take screenshots >.> I have to press the Share button, which opens a PS4 menu (fully blocking my game) and press triangle to have it save a screenshot.. and then wait a few seconds for it to load before it brings me back to my game -.-

That aside, I doubt they will actually implement a fix for this, as I dont think they view this as a priority (meaning I dont think enough people have complained about it for it to show up on their radar..

If you cant disable it using the keybinds, your only option may be to just.. get in the habit of waiting a bit after you autorun.. press L1, wait one second, then open your menu. After a little bit it'll become habit and you wont be taking all the accidental screenshots. Not sure what else you can do though..

You can change that on the PS4.
Settings (on PS4) -> Sharing and Broadcasts -> Share Button Control Type -> choose "Easy Screenshots"

To be honest, if I had known earlier exactly what was causing this, I would have complained about it a lot sooner.

Throughout 2.x I was taking a lot of mysterious screenshots without knowing exactly how I was doing it. As far as I had known, the Print Screen key should have been the only way to do it, yet I wasn't even touching my keyboard when it happened. It wasn't until very recently that I discovered exactly what I was pressing on my controller that was doing it, and this wasn't helped by the fact that there's seemingly no way (that I've been able to figure out, anyway) to change or disable this "shortcut" command in the options, because it wasn't even listed anywhere for me to find out.

Why are you pressing start as soon as you initiate autorun then, just wait a second until your running then do it, it wont screenshot

or... are you holding the L1 to autorun, because you dont need to....

On topic: now that I think about it, I just recently cleaned out my ps3, in hopes that it would run faster.. and there was a massive folder full of final fantasy screenshots, some I remember taking, but others that I dont think I intentionally took.. Things i wouldnt have screenshot.. like random screenshots while i was running through town, or just standing there. I wonder if this was happening to me as well. o.o

Regardless there may be a setting or something to disable it, some of their settings are a little hard to find, but this game is one of the most customizable settings wise that i've ever played. If not.. like i said you may just have to train yourself to pause for a second before you press start :/

NO KIDDING. The point is, it's very easy to forget, because again, it's not an intuitive shortcut command.

Please don't treat me like I'm some kind of invalid. All I want to know is if there is some way to disable this, and if not, why not.

It is, but it is noticeably lacking in specific ways, such as there being no way (that I can tell, anyway) to increase the size of dialogue bubbles without reducing the entire resolution of your game window. With nearly every single other HUD element being able to be moved and resized, it doesn't make any sense to me how there's no option for this one. This is just another one of those Little Things like that.

Hold the direction you are running, tap L1, then just steer your character. No need to hold L1. Also, initiate auto run, wait a sec for your character to be on auto run then press start to access your menu. Easy peasy. Best of luck to you. I hope your able to resolve the issue so you don't end up with a bunch of unwanted screenshots.

Well never seen anyone post about having a issue with this and want a option to turn it off so that why I would guess there not the option and mostly likely not see them changing it.

I know this. I've played FFXI for 13 years; I know how the (mostly borrowed) controls work.

It's worth noting that FFXI did not have such an asinine button combination for taking a screenshot, as well.
