Idea for more fairness (New Housing Plots)

Dear Sirs and Madams,

I know you already choose a more or less "humane" time for the server maintenance so the majority of people without a life can instantly log in after the servers come up. But here a suggestion on how to make it more fair for everyone poor player with a social life or just not the guts to call in sick for a patch and new plots.

How about, for new plots, you implement a counter and "shield" until the weekend to prevent that all the new plots are sold out in mere minutes and giving the people with either a lot of time or no life at all an huge advantage.

I have to admit that this idea was born out of rage and disappointment over the situation of "available" plots on my server. But the more and the longer I think about it it makes more and more sense. That way, the majority has a higher chance to be able to obtain a plot at the weekend instead of getting their hopes crushed the moment they log in after a hard day.

I play since 1.0 and even though I play that long and literally having the money to purchase even a medium size plot my life and my situation forbid me the chance to get a plot since they were introduced. So in all honesty and hope, please consider this idea. Not only for my sake, but for the sake of everyone with a life and the hope to one day, getting a plot to build a nice, comfort home on it.

They could just upgrade the servers so they can have more plots and increase how many people you can share a house with. SE doesn't seem too keen on that idea, unfortunately.

I sorta wish housing was like it was talked about back in closed beta. Back then , housing had sounded more like an upgradeable module. Where you would buy a plot. And with crafting and dumping more and more money into it, you could upgrade it to a medium and eventually a large. That would of been perfect. Start off with a plot slightly smaller then the current small. Everyone starts with one, then those who want bigger homes could invest the time and money commitments.

Possibly this is why they will have the apartment style housing in 3.5? but I don't think those will be upgradeable.

Well, that would be another idea for sure Syhrwyb but I'm sure most people would love to have a house on their own instead of sharing it with one. It still wouldn't eliminate the problem that people who have more free time having an advantage over other players with less time.

So either SE comes up with an idea that would give everyone the same chance on obtaining a plot in the wards or as you say expanding the wards to such a degree that the amount of players currently playing on the server are covered. Including a block to purchase more than one plot. Because a friend just told me that a FC on Balmung purchased most of the new plots and illegally reselling them for a high price.

Apartments do sound nice, but I think they do not have the amount of creative freedom as houses. No outside, no different sizes and lets be fair her. Who wants an apartment if you could have a house?

Future updates are to have apartments but i agree who wants that? It is not any different then having a room in your FC house really. Houses, the main appeal is not only the space inside but the freedom you have outside with furniture, trees, garden, etc..
I can tell you right know once i get back home tonight and log in the houses will all be gone

Apartments won't work for an FC.. and right now my FC is sitting on the gil for a medium and we got shut out.

On the mayor servers they already are gone. Literally sold out. It is kinda sad, that SE is unable to come up with a simple idea or mechanism to prevent that. People like you and me who are just unable to come on earlier have no fair chance to even get a glimps on such an opportunity. So I guess you agree with me as well that SE has to do something about it and that apartments are not a solution at all.

@Zyama: I feel with you, Zyama. Just talking with a fellow player on Excalibur, who logged on rather quickly as well to be able to obtain an plot for their FC thus not being able to.
