    They aren't making all gear outdated when they release new content.... they had to do it from 1.18-1.19 so they could add materia and adjust the stats on the gear. The simplest way to do this was removing it, but hey - at least you were allowed to turn it into materia.


    Btw... not all U/U gear is worthless. Sipahi Turban / Gloves, Sentinel gear, Hex mask, etc.... all drop from Stronghold coffers and they are highly sought after.

    Darkhold gear is semi-worthless but only because you can't materia bind them. I recall them saying they would look into the possibility of melding materia to U/U gear.
