Eureka! Brute Justice isn't Voltron!

/eureka! I figured out Brute Justice's true inspiration! Maybe!

He's a big shout-out to Transformers, not Voltron. While his color scheme is a bit indicative of a general shout-out to combining mechas, it doesn't match Voltron's configuration.

I don't know the names of the individual robots that make up Voltron, but his color scheme goes like this:

Black (Main Body)
Green (Right Arm)
Red (Left Arm)
Yellow (Left Leg)
Blue (Right Leg)

Brute Justice is set up as such:
Green (Main Body)
Red (Right Arm)
Blue (Left Arm)
Yellow (Right Leg)
Green (Left Leg)

Doesn't add up. However, while his color scheme doesn't match, Brute Justice is a giant shout-out to the Decepticon combiner Bruticus and his components, the Combaticons. The proof is, as such...

Blast Off (Right Arm)
Vortex (Left Arm)
Swindle (Right Leg)
Brawl (Left Leg)

Brute Justice (Gestalt)

The colors aren't exact, but the names line up.

Ah well. Just thought the names were familiar while assembling my Combiner Wars Bruticus, and then I went and did A8 and noticed a lot of similarities.

I don't frequent Reddit (or Tumblr or anything like that), so it's no wonder I hadn't heard...

You're not alone thinking it was Voltron, I thought it was too with a hint of FFIX Alexander.

Aw, and here I thought I was clever for figuring that out on my own... ah well.

Just assumed it was Voltron because he's the ur-example of combining mechas in the West. Building Combiner Wars Bruticus and then running A8, you notice the name similarities and while I did have to bring up images to compare... yeah.

After the names are just the transformer names with "er" added to the end.

Also A8S adds a Shockwave equivalent.
