    That was not the point...

    This is a cheap path to play catch up as a fresh 60 crafter and get the stats TO MAKE ironworks gear.... not REPLACE ironworks gear. That would be silly.

    This provides the stats for current 3 1/2 star synths at minimal time/gil cost, and then after you can worry about pentamelding the ironworks set for 3.4 content.

    I agree with you, they are practically giving away the ability to 3.5 star synths. It is a shame
