Im getting that error as well, but I am in PS4, so no folder browsing solution for me![]()
I know how frustrating this can be, so I've had a quick look around the web. There's quite a few posts on the same thing over the years. i've picked a few suggestions which seemed to work for people:-
The client has been updated, but I can't get the login screen to pop up due to this error, which is preventing me from updating the game. I've tried setting B4EulaAgreement from 0 to 1 in the FFXIV_BOOT.cfg file, updating IE, restarting IE settings, and restarting my computer. Still haven't found a fix.
Anyone have any thoughts that might help? Unfortunately, my net is slow, so I need to fix this asap...
- Found the fix open FFXIV_BOOT.cfg in notepad, and change the eula agreement to 1
more to follow.............
My laptop just refused to get past the launcher's update and kept giving me errors.
I ended up getting the download on my PC, transferring the whole Square Enix folder to my external drive and copy/pasting it to my laptop and overwriting the old folder.
- The other option is to also update Internet Explorer via Windows Update. (It is pretty important to make sure IE is up to date even if you don't use it due to security flaws with older versions.)
- It's a bit late but I will post this solution for everyone else who has script errors. I dont have the english IE so I have to translate it freely - go to the option menu of the IE -> then internetoptions -> tab "advanced" -> reset -> reset
It will tell you that the changes active after a restart - do NOT restart the pc!
just open the ff launcher and the script error should not bother you anymore.
You have to do this everytime after a restart of the pc, if you want a permanent solution i think you will need to reinstall windows.
this was testes on the IE version 11.
hope this will help at least some of you.![]()
- So I found out what the issue is. I seemed to have gotten a piece of software installed on my computer called scorpion services. If you go into control panel and add remove programs you will see two things that are both related to this. Delete them, and than run a scan on your comp to make sure you did not miss anything. It seems this program is what is messing with the launcher, because as soon as I removed it my FF is working fine.
So there's a few things to try out, hope it helps.
