How did you level your tank?

So how did you level your tank?

I found that levelling my tank is harder than levelling my main job BRD which I just followed MSQ to level. As for my healer (SCH), I just spammed dungeons. I am doing the same to level my tank (WAR) but compared to healer, it's taking relatively longer time. Three or four runs were enough to get me one level but as a tank I need seven to ten runs to level up

Is the EXP gain for tanks low on purpose to make them do more dungeons?
Or am I doing something wrong..

Leveling tank is easier than leveling DPS or healers considering tanks get instant queue. All I did was spamming dungeons, trials, daily roulettes, beast tribe. Also used food every time I get in dungeons.

I'm sure you're already doing this, but just do you're daily's and spam you're highest unlocked dungeon. If you get burned out, fates "just" above your level are a good option. The extra damage helps you learn your CD's better. If you put your choco on healer, you can pretty much single kill boss fates as long as your tp doesn't run out, lol. As mentioned above, food (even outside of dungeons) and heat of battle if your FC has it up. Oh, and try to keep your rested bonus up as well.

I did it five years ago with over world mob killing exp parties.
Half the server was Japanese. No job stones. No FC buffs. No dungeon spam. Final Destination.

Dungeons, Levelled all tanks by learning the job in dungeons, I cringe at 'tank's doing fates or battle leves because they don't really teach much IMO

Uhh, PLD and DRK were so fast and easy. I played PLD until I got to HW, switched to DRK and used dungeons to get to 50 (instant queue made this fast) to get back to the HW content and finisht the MSQ and then used FATEs to get PLD to 60 while I farmed anima crystals.

Just finished my first DPS and holy crap, it sucks. 30m in dungeon queue! some days after 45 or so I could only gain 2 level sin a night while still doing all my dailies and whatnot.

I level mine via dungeons. As boring as they get, they offer actual tank experience that's, in my opinion, invaluable to a growing tank. Though I easily get burnt out so fates are the next alternative and when I get burnt out from that...it's probably time to take a break.

I wasn't advocating leveling a tank to 60 with fates, just as a buffer between burnouts. 10 mobs in one dungeon equals the same xp as a single fate, so fate grinding is kinda pointless as a leveling tool. However, fate xp sure beats the hell out of sitting on your thumbs.

Dungeons and your dailies are your friends, FATEs are good but...it really doesn't teach you much about your class and tanking. Hunting log is your friend too don't neglect it! If you're lvling drk you won't have one but pre HW classes have em. Dungeons really taught me how to play and I lvld a glad/pld it was bad for solo play but doing dungeons was the fastest and most useful for me try what works for you.
