Widargelt for 4.0 Major Character? [SPOILER Discussion]

So if 4.0 is Ala Mhigo Expansion, assuming SE has not slapped us that Ala Mhigo as the next expansion after Ishgard enough through 2.0 to current storyline, do you think Widargelt may become a Major Character for 4.0 to 4.X Main Scenario similar to how Estinien became a Major Character in 3.0 to 3.X?

If so then we must also assume a certain amount of 4.0's dialogues are affected based on the WoL's current state in Monk Job quest as well.

In my opinion I think Widargelt may become a Major Character for 4.0 to 4.X Main Scenario mostly due to how the Monk Job Story, during 2.0 storyline, had a strong push on Widargelt's goal to free Ala Mhigo and that he ask the WoL to make a promise/oath that when the time comes the WoL will be there by his side to liberate Ala Mhigo. Even in 3.0 Monk Job Storyline, he still keeps that goal waiting and preparing for the day when the Battle for Ala Mhigo begins but now focus on being the Master of a new generation of Monks putting less on revenge and more on preserving the Monk's teachings.

It actually makes sense. For giggles, maybe you're on to something, too. Like, every next expansion gets one the job NPC involved. For instance, maybe 5.0 will involve Soltzagyl (PLD job NPC) ?

A part of me hope that more than 1 Job NPC is involved in 4.0 storyline beyond Widargelt. The reason so far for Ala Mhigo remaining under Garlean control was that Eorzea was not united yet so there was no army strong enough to liberate Ala Mhigo. Now Eorzea is almost united since the Dragonsong war is about to end and once United they may have to pull some of their bests into taking back Ala Mhigo.

The Paladin Job NPCs are some candidates as well if Ul'dah plans to send some of their best to help take back Ala Mhigo then some number of the Paladins may be among the ranks. Maybe have Jenlyns as the commander of this special unit of Paladins.

The are plenty of Expansion to arrive in the future but they can only go so far with which Job NPC can be involved even when new Jobs are introduced per expansion thus increase the number of Job NPCs they can pick from.

He could and should play a role in the 4.0 expansion, but lets not forget that we have met alot of Ala Mhigans in the game. Yda, Raubahn, Ilbert, the leader of little Ala Mhigo (Lets hope he stabs Ilbert for killing the lad). Having Widargelt as a main character would be awsome, but I realy want Raubahn to be our companion. Rabby is badass and maybe the 4.0 story might let him get a arm-cannon or something.

If Widargelt is going to be a companion, then this means that 4.0 Monk story will not feature Widargelt and if Widargelt is going to come, I hope Erik comes aswell, we could always use a scholar.

I hated Widargelt (and Erik) in ARR, but I loved him in Heavensward (and no Erik to boot!) he's greatly improved his character and 3.0 MNK questline is one of my favourites.

Anyways, prior to completing the MNK questline I always jokingly thought that he'd be great part to 4.0 assuming they'd pull another Estinien and that maybe he might even be the long-lost crown prince that was hidden away in a Fist of Rhalgr monastery. But once I completed it, I just think that his place now is with rebuilding the Fist of Rhalgr - both Light and Dark sects.

There are other Ala Mhigan resistance members who can take that role: the Prince of Ala Mhigo, Wilred's grandfather & co. etc

But there may not be only 1 already known character involved in the 4.0 storyline. Just like how we got Haurchefant involved in Heavensward along Estinien (and Ser Aymeric, but we got to know him later in the 2.X story than we currently are in 3.X).

I didn't like much what they did with Estinien. He was a villain in the DRG quest (Pre Heavensward), he died here. But then, he appear like "Hey, I'm alive, idiot". And causes a lot of incoherences if you play the DRG quests after or during HW, it is like a time travel or something.

Widargelt will be similar if no one played monk quest and they will do it during or after 4.0. We will have again incoherences. I'd prefer new characters to be honest.

I hate what they did with Estinien too, but on retrospective because of the lore involved there wasn't much they could have done.

He was already the azure dragoon, and that involved him directly with Nidhogg's eye, which is one of the central points of the Heavensward scenario. If it wasn't him then a new azure dragoon (someone else than the WoL because then the DRG questline would have been mandatory for the MSQ) would have arisen or someone else would be in possession of the eye and both situations would create new inconsistencies if you didn't complete the DRG questline.
