    Crystal of Light Delivery Service!

I have a few questions about the Crystals of Light. Firstly, where in the MSQ do we pick up each of them, in what elemental order, specifically? I recall that we have all of them before the conclusion of 2.0's story, but I can't seem to find any references to actually picking up the crystals in the in-game journal quest entries.

Apart from that, my character started in Ul'dah, so I have no idea what happens in a Lominsan or Gridanian starter, but I vaguely remember that I picked up a Crystal (don't know which element) in the level 5 MSQ, "Underneath the Sultantree", and it was delivered by way of... voidsent, or something. How exactly does this happen; why does a voidsent have a Crystal of Light? For that matter, why do the sylphs have the Crystal of Lightning? Why do we get the other Crystals in the places we get them from? If someone could fill me in on the details around that, this would be nice, thanks.

    Off the top of my head;
#1) water - like you said the lv5 MSQ, Oda-san has even told us "don't think too much about it"
    #2) fire - defeating Ifrit
#3) thunder - Frixio gifts it to us
    #4) earth - defeating Titan
#5) ice - defeating Isgebind, the final boss of Stone Vigil (easy)
    #6) wind - defeating Garuda

Frixio was given the Lightning Crystal of Light by Ramuh, so there's a strong primal connection for at least four of them. We seem to forcibly take a Wind Crystal of Light straight from the bosom of Garuda, while I believe we find Fire and Earth after their respective primals dissipate. An attempt to explain the non-primal related Crystals of Light I can only surmise they appear near beings with a tremendous affinity for aether. Another possible explanation is they're all loosely tied to Ascians.

Ascian summons the voidsent you get water from, Ascian wakes up and empowers Isgebind, Ascian teaches the art of summoning Primals, etc.

Aaand source for my Oda-san quote: http://gamerescape.com/2015/06/18/lo...h-fernehalwes/
A: With the Blessing of Light, the Warrior of Light is able to manifest of Crystals of Light. Most are thematically connected to their acquisition, but the water crystal just sort of appears. Is there any reason the water crystal was chosen for that or any kind of connection we can make?

KF: Oda-san just said, “Ehhh, don’t think too deeply about this one.” We can leave it at that. <laughs>

Thanks, so now the question is where the Crystals come from... Are there Crystals of Light that aren't aspected to any element? From what I've seen in Ysayle's Dragonsong War Tale, even her own Crystal is aspected to Ice.

More specifically, I was always under the impression that the Crystals of Light, which I faintly recall are specifically described as being manifestations of Hydaelyn's power (paraphrasing), were basically formed from Hydaelyn herself, and then sent out to us, which is why I'm questioning her delivery services. (We grab them out of primals and random monsters?)

But is there anything that says otherwise? That the Crystals of Light aren't actually part of Hydaelyn herself, and existed as separate items floating around until we picked them up? Or at least, what exactly are they?

That water Crystal is one of the big reasons I feel the Lominsan start is cannon; you confront some Serpent Reavers right before the fight you get the Crystal from. And who do the Reavers serve? The Lord of the Whorl.

According to Krile (I think...could have been Matyoa...can't access Journal right now with maintenance going on...was during 3.2) the Crystals of Light are gifts from the Mothercrystal to the current Warrior of Light to help them fight the Darkness. And with her waning power, so too are the Crystals. Older ones are much more powerful than the ones we've seen (our six and Ysayle's one)

I'm not sure it was explained exactly how we get them, other than that we are able to manifest them...somehow...using the Blessing. It may be explained somewhere in the MSQ, but its been...geeze...one to two years since I did the AAR MSQ, so I'm rusty on the specifics there. Could also have some explanation on the quest Krile uses Matoya's Crystal, but I can't remember

Could be Hydalean using our Blessing of Light to reach out and form all the Aether left over after our fights (since Primals and Dragons release a fair amount of Aether when killed and I assume Voidsent would as well) into the Crystals of Light.

I assume the Water Crystal was supposed to be obtained from defeating Leviathan, but around the time 2.0 was gonna be pushed out, I think Japan suffered a tsunami, so the devs saw it as too soon.
