There is almost always something more worthwhile to cast than the embrace your properly placed fairy already has covered.
I think I'm missing something about your statement here...what else can I possibly be doing mid-cast as a SCH, other than commanding my fairy? You can't even toggle oGCDs like Cleric Stance or anything in the middle of casts like Bio II/Miasma/Shadowflare/Physick/Adlo. There is nothing else I can think of that I could be doing as a SCH mid-cast other than using SOME manner of fairy ability, whether it's Embrace or one of the other ones. Am I wrong?

Just have an Embrace macro for <tt> and spam it all the time while you dps. I'm glad your looking into this, it is an insanely great skill that is sooo useful and is really underrated by most scholars.

Clearly this method won't work if you are accustomed to setting the boss as your FT, but if you aren't using FT it's not a bad way to go.
I know it's slightly off topic, but why would folks bother putting boss as focus target? Tanks make so much more sense there. Maybe I'm just not up to content where this becomes an issue, but I found my healing got a lot less stressful when I started FT the tank and setting up all my heal macros to that. No more losing focus and healing yourself, still don't have to switch away from targeting enemy. I'm sure mouseover works great if you're set for it, but I think FT makes a good alternative. And in this situation, perfect solution.

Many mechanics require you to know when something is going to be cast. A QoL Issue I'd like to have is having a second focus target and for the first focus target to include a target of Target (tt).

I use two macros for this, each one identical, except that one is <2> and the other is <3>. This way I never have to drop cleric stance to heal regardless of who's taking the beating!

Focus target allows you to see what the boss is casting.

Good luck dodging gaze attacks while you're healing or DPSing on other targets!
