That takes what? 5 minutes (10 tops) of practice to master? Don't really think I need to grind for days on end for each new skill I want to learn.
It seems that most of you have forgoten that all the AF gear in ff11 was set near the level cap in the game at some point.
screw you losers who want steeper leveling, you people need to get lives. I dont want to spend more time on this crappy game then I have to getting to 50.
Fixed your OP. Levels in this game unfortunately never meant anything because we have never had a working leveling system. The irony is that even though leveling is now easier, it has never been more involved or a test of a player's ability with a class. Previous systems were quite simply broken and rewarded terrible, backwards play.Leveling up has gotten way too easy.
In thepastFFXI having a job leveled meant something.
You'd go and focus your character's career in certain job, maybe two if you had the time, and you invested in it. And eventually you'd hit the max level and get all your capped gear... and people would see it, and it'd give them something to look up to.
You'd become known amongst your friends as the healer or the tank or the damage dealer, depending on what your focus was.
But now everyone has pretty much everything leveled thanks to the new and dumb leveling curve. People even level a job to max just for the sake of equipping ifrit drops. And they get there within a week.
Most of the equipment you buy lasts less than a day since you are always qualifying for an upgrade because levels less than an hour to be completed.
You can get from 1 to 50 in just days if you shut your brain off through it.
Whats wrong with taking your time to build your character? Why must people who just started playing be doing endgame content?

@ OP, you're confusing hard work with video games. If you want to feel accomplished, shut off your computer and do something in real life. Video games are for fun and they are designed for masses of people since they take hundreds of people working for many years to create. If you want to play a hardcore online game I would recommend Dark Souls since you can profit from your skill in a very unique and lasting way.
Lets see.. in FF11 before hitting 75 you had NOTHING to do. 75 was when the game actually started, so i rather them add in tons of 50 content then a bunch of crap inbetween. times have changed. Less people want to spend forever grinding then they did back in the day. look at 11 now, quick grind up but tons to do once you are 75-95
i totally disagree with you, solo gaming.. and leveling new classes is MUCH harder than ever before (no phys level, mobs are harder)..Leveling up has gotten way too easy.

And why do you want to stick to grind?
And i dont think at all that's it too easy!!!!
For me as a casual playing not that often i still dont have a character at lv 50! almost at lv 40 i dont want to go further with my conjurer because its so slowly gaining exp... because doing guildleves as a soloplayer con is really hard since the patch..
And in contrast to this it is much more HARDER to level new low level classes than ever (because there is no phys level anymore). before 1.19. it was VERY easy to push your low level char on your own. 5 star leve? pah* no problem for me ;D
AND Soloplay is much harder than ever (especially for me as a conjurer)
and not only for a con... each class is much more harder solo (even in the low level range lv 1>) than before 1.19. (because there is no overpowered phys level when starting a new char) just try it out.
for me it was very much easier to push my low level chars, because i could go for 5 star leves as a lv 5 class for example, because i had almost phys lv 38
And do not fortget... lv 50 isnt the cap level!! the level will be raised to lv 79>> or so, how we know Square Enix. So when you want to make the exp curve much steeper, than it will get impossible for most people to get even close to endgame content (if we think of a maximum lv of 79 for example)
SO DO NOT FORGET... lv 50 ISNT EVEN CLOSE TO THE FINAL LV CAP!!
i TOTALLY disagree with your opinion. why people DO NOT CONSIDER THIS while complaining about it????!!
I just dont get it! (sorry for the harsh use of capslock and punctuation ;O)

I'm definitely with the OP on this.
And i'm quite speechless seeing so many ppl being happy with the current system of lvling.
Sorry but no... You don't learn how to tank in 5 mins, neither do you learn to main heal or dd properly. Put two ppl together, one who lvled his job in 3 days and someone else who played it for a year, if they're both good players you'll see the difference in no time. Exceptions might exist, but in most case that's it.
Ya, this thing really getting on my nerves. It's not FXI blah blah blah. Right, it's FFXIV. What in the world would be closer to FFXI than XIV ? I don't get why ppl want something so different. I mean I played this one because i've enjoyed the XI for years and I was expecting something quite similar, at least in terms of game mechanics.
Yet another troll thread. Leveling is beyond easy. Try playing the game instead of just being bad if you think leveling is hard at all.
I like challenges, and I think that everyone feels great when he or she accomplishes a challenge.
I loved FFXI, and is just not because of the endless amount of time to reach the level cap, but because of the hard fights on your way at every single level. You had always the feeling that any mistakes could wipe the whole party, since goblins in dunes, fishies and giants close to Jeuno, mandragoras in jungles, bettles on garlaige, raptors and ants around level 40-50...... and the list could be endless.
I'm not sure how is the party leveling right now in 1.19, but someone has said that is is just about AOE and spamming button, and if that's true I think that Yoshida and their fellows are doing some mistakes....
Maybe I'm wrong and I have to test it by myself. Is fine with me to keep the xp curve as it is right now, but if the 8 member grind partys doesn't need to put any effort or strategy on the game besides spamming heals, nukes and ws.... whats the point then?
And I repeat, maybe I'm completely wrong and is not as easy as I think...
So I vote YES to keep the XP as it is, but NO if you only need to gather 7 friends and spam nonstop your best ws/magic/heal.
