Leveling just to see that exp bar go up is not progress. Progress, is being able to save Eorzea from ruinous threats. Progress, is being able to unlock your future job and see your character evolve through deep and meaningful story. Progress, is being able to kill new content (ala Ifrit/Garuda/Dark Moogle) after countless attempts of refining your strategy and being rewarded.

Progress is not hitting enter 250,000 times to get to the next crafting level, or killing crabs repeatedly until you hit level 50. I'll tell you what that is though: boring, pointless, and completely unsatisfying grinding.

Grinding is not and will never be meaningful content. As soon as SE realizes this, they can avoid making pointless timesinks that nobody enjoys as it is, and put in content that is easily expandable and is virtually never capped at any limit. Player housing, a FF card game, raising chocobo, etc are all wonderful ideas that add to character progression and are incredibly more dynamic than horrible and monotonous grinds.

Is leveling to 50 easy? Yep. Is it fun? One could argue both ways. I'd tend to say no, because I have no attachment to the monsters I am killing repeatedly, I have no attachment or even DRIVE to do guildleves, and I don't have a desire to level up every single class to 50. I don't think that adds any element of character progression because some classes are completely unrelated.

So a big and incredibly loud no to your idea of increasing the amount of EXP required to level.

I completely disagree. There's a little thing games use called pacing. Pacing is used so that you actually utilized all the content ranging from low level to high. Its so you can get that experience of "holy crap! I almost just got owned by a bunny!" and so you can look at a level capped guy in envy and then when you are level 50 you can flaunt it if you wish.

Mario wouldn't be fun if you could start the game, enter the final dungeon, and kill Bowser.
