Grinding makes combat more dull. Also with the way classes work now, having everything leveled up should only make you feel prouder, since you actually gain something from doing it (cross-class skills).

If I had to spend months getting a single class to 50 I'd probably stop playing. I have a life outside of the game, and I play the game for entertainment. I don't come home from work to get back to work. No offense to you of course, you're entitled to your own opinions and if I had more time to play I'd probably agree with you.
I really wish I could have read through this entire topic but I had to stop at yours... (aren't you lucky!)

Your argument means that we have to (for lack of a better word) dumb down low & mid level experience because "I don't have time for it ;'-(". Should we just simply give you a doctorate degree if you don't have time for that? No!

Normal people earn their accomplishments. But at the moment, XIV's grind is full systems that promote groups just running from enemy to enemy mindlessly hacking and slashing and learning nothing about what actually makes your class different than the person beside you.

Yoshi has taken steps forwards and backwards in 1.19 in terms of the battle system. The forwards is making it harder to kill enemies. The backwards is the linking system combined with the chain system which just promoting just spam aoe parties (more of the same). This backwards is caused by people like you moaning for the same accomplishments that people who actually put the time and effort to earn.

I don't believe that is should be grind alone and that content needs to me implemented for low and mid levels but it needs to start with experience getting nerfed then the linking system needs to be at least less sensitive at most gone completely. That alone will start making people appreciate mid level content that's already in the game such as ifrit 25, and toto, and current GC quests.

It doesn't need to be as hard at XI's grind but if it was at least half XI's grind I would be happy. Even getting past level 20s and 30s (at least to me) felt like an accomplishment in XI. When I hit 50 in this game all I did was go meh.... now what.

If "Modern MMOs" are about starting the game at the end. then I'm not going to be part of this.

I like challenges, and I think that everyone feels great when he or she accomplishes a challenge.

I loved FFXI, and is just not because of the endless amount of time to reach the level cap, but because of the hard fights on your way at every single level. You had always the feeling that any mistakes could wipe the whole party, since goblins in dunes, fishies and giants close to Jeuno, mandragoras in jungles, bettles on garlaige, raptors and ants around level 40-50...... and the list could be endless.

I'm not sure how is the party leveling right now in 1.19, but someone has said that is is just about AOE and spamming button, and if that's true I think that Yoshida and their fellows are doing some mistakes....

Maybe I'm wrong and I have to test it by myself. Is fine with me to keep the xp curve as it is right now, but if the 8 member grind partys doesn't need to put any effort or strategy on the game besides spamming heals, nukes and ws.... whats the point then?

And I repeat, maybe I'm completely wrong and is not as easy as I think...

So I vote YES to keep the XP as it is, but NO if you only need to gather 7 friends and spam nonstop your best ws/magic/heal.
