In the past having a job leveled meant something.

You'd go and focus your character's career in certain job, maybe two if you had the time, and you invested in it. And eventually you'd hit the max level and get all your capped gear... and people would see it, and it'd give them something to look up to.

You'd become known amongst your friends as the healer or the tank or the damage dealer, depending on what your focus was.

But now everyone has pretty much everything leveled thanks to the new and dumb leveling curve. People even level a job to max just for the sake of equipping ifrit drops. And they get there within a week.

Most of the equipment you buy lasts less than a day since you are always qualifying for an upgrade because levels less than an hour to be completed.

You can get from 1 to 50 in just days if you shut your brain off through it.

Whats wrong with taking your time to build your character? Why must people who just started playing be doing endgame content?

Rate this thread up if you'd like for a steeper exp curve on the levels.

Play less often or grind Coblyns and Squirrels for 1XP a piece all the way to 50. Now that's some real grinding to brag about. If you can do that, you should be considered the best player in the game and given a free lifetime Final Fantasy upgrade pass because you know the true meaning of earning your levels. Forget about that the game being fun or entertaining, it should feel like you're clocking int to a job, right? Put it your hours repeating the same mindless mundane tasks.

Until content is abundant and exceptionally engaging, months of grinding just doesn't make sense.

So according to your logic we should all start at 50, right? Because what I'm hearing is grinding has no place in the game, so might aswell skip it.

Grinding is supposed to be a timesink. Its not about bragging. Its about having players differentiate from each other so we can all bring in something different to the group play, which won't happen if we all have everything leveled.

We already have plenty of grinding in the game, and players differentiate from one another regardless of whether or not they have every class leveled to 50. You still can't swap your entire class mid-fight from tanking to being a healer on-the-fly. No extra amount of grinding will change that.

Wrong. I have no qualms with grinding. I just feel that there needs to be a certain level of entertainment for me not to be concerned about the grind. Would you pay and read a book that copy-pasted the same and similar words in the course of a 1000 pages? Would you pay to go to an amusement park that only had a merry-go-round and a kid slide? Would you pay full price for your internet connection when you're only getting 28.8Kps dial-up speeds?
