I loled hard at this. XI was a race to cap, no one in their right mind gave a crap about gear before 75. They doing exact same thing here which is a stupid idea. What they need to do is to stop putting all the content at level 50, start adding some mid range real content and make that curve a lot steeper.
In FFXI you had your RSE, your AF quests and so on, for example. In XIV it seems everything's put at the end of the line.
Not to mention you end up selling gear you just bought having barely broken it in.
people will always want to invest the most time in the gear that is the best.
as long as they can outlevel gear, for most people that it is the shortest path to good gear. there is nothing to do about that unless you make low end gear applicable to high end stuff, but that seems like a really bad idea on a number of levels.

either you were playing on a bad server or the wrong time @_@ Odin server was all about the gear swapping since the dunes lol
FFXIV Since Sep. 2010: Selbina/Ridill/Excalibur (Mergers)
Currently moved to Leviathan
I remember the Alpha days when even breathing lagged you
sadly that is pretty much the standard in mmos these days ffxi is one of the rare game where gear you farmed years before actually was still usable. now its a race, like you said. but they do it because it keeps competition going for pve players. what fun is a game when there is not much competition.

my house is in rebuilding stage. this house is very small and in unpopular area.
the roof, floors, plumbing, and gas are all broke.
my landlord fired the original crew. for not completing the job on time
the new crew comes in and makes all kinds of promises, and shows me pics.
now for next year i have to wait for them to finish the job.
should I move to a more popular, bigger house rent it for same price?
or stay in the part of my house that is not being rebuilt. but still pay same rent as others.
Lolwhut?
My leaping boots were and emperors hairpin were exremly important pieces of gear for my Thief early on. If I "Didn't care" about my gear I'd never have as many party invites as I did. Perhaps it was just my server but Odin would totally shun you for being a gimp. The only people who could get away with fighting with crap gear were bards...

You do have Toto-rak Dungeon and tons of midrange NMs. What are you talking about?
You also need to remember that 50 is only the temporary endgame. A year from now, it will likely be the new midgame.

I like your message but as someone that plays only a few hours on weekends and mostly solo I like the curve the way it is.
